Where is a good place to live/work/sled in eastern BC?

Hey guys, i'm 22 years old and currently living in a small town in manitoba, working in the construction trade. I like what I do but I'm looking for a change of scenery after this summers construction season. I've always wanted to give living and working in BC a try, mainly for the snowmobiling. Due to having lame riding buddies I have only been to BC once by myself to ride in golden in may. and 13+ hours of driving to get there sucks too.

So what im after is small town life in eastern BC that is close to good riding areas and good steady work. how is the cost of living in that area and what is the main industry in the area? How hard is it to find a place to live out there? I have a buddy that works as a heavy duty mechanic in Revelstoke at a snocat skiing/boarding place. That is seasonal work and might be worth looking into.

For the past few years I have been working in a shop, have a pretty good grasp on mechanical work, have rebuilt motors, replaced clutches...etc but never gone to school for it. I can also weld stick and mig.....sofar just steel I'm not bad at that either been doing it for a while. I've ran loaders, skidsteers, bulldozers, and a few other things but only for a short while and not scared to hop on and learn new stuff. I've ran a gravel crusher and maintained it. Worked on Trucks and trailiers and I plan on getting a class 1 this summer. I guess I'm kind of a jack of all trades.... most everything i know from exsperience.

Is there a place for a guy like me out there?
