When to clean the primary?

I have 2,800 miles on my sled, and doubt that the primary has ever been taken apart and cleaned or anything. We did this on our old 583 and put crushed graphite on everything that rolls for lube and it helped a lot. Just wondering how often to do this.
Thanks

with the way doo's are withe being warm, theres usually a bit of belt dust in there, maybe every 500 miles is a good time to do it, keeps everything clean, and happy, and running smoother.

i do mine almost ever 200 miles, as something to do on the sled, and i like my clutches to be happy.

i just use hot soapy water with the green side of a sponge and clean it all up inside, and clean the rollers and whatnot.

Well mine is a 01 Summit 700, was there problems with those clutches getting hot too that they need to be cleaned every 200 - 500 miles. Do you do the secondary too or just the primary?

IMO it's a good idea to blow out the TRA with compressed air quite often, I do this every few rides and get a nice cloud of abrasive dust....it only takes a few seconds to do this.
Not a good idea to lube anything in the clutch, it's designed to run without.
As said, scotchbrite and soapy water on the sheaves....just get all the soap off.

I pull my primary and secondary off at the beginning and middle of each season and completely tear them down for cleaning. I use brake cleaner, then hot soapy water and then compressed air to dry them off.
I've also heard to just put them in the dishwasher (In pieces) and run them with diswashing detergent.
There's no way the wife would ever allow that!:face-icon-small-win

A few times a season for me. A must following a belt blow.

Like everone else ... Compressed air, scotchbrite with soapy water.
