Are any of you guys running powder coated or some sort of black finished wheels that holds up wheel to all the road chemicals in the passes? I currently have a set of chrome Detatas on my 2500 that are peeling like mad. I got a slow leak going on one of the front rims, guy at the tire place said the corrosion on the wheels is causing the bead not to seal anymore. I was thinking of taking them to get refinished and powder coated before I consider a new set. Thanks for any advice.

I can't answer you exactly but I can tell you what I have found. There is a product called Fluid Film that you can spray on your wheels that will keep them from getting ate away by the $hit they spray on the roads. I have raw aluminum wheels on my 98 Dodge and I sprayed this stuff on the wheels at the beginning of last year and never washed it off until spring and wheels look as good as new. During the winter the wheels look terrible. I wash the truck after almost every weekend and never touched the wheels until spring and they look great. I also sprayed the underside of my new truck front to rear with this stuff and it really helps with rust on the frame and other stuff underneath. Have heard some guys spraying their tunnels so snow doesn't stick. Good Luck.

I've got black XD wheels on my truck and they have held up very well to salt and whatever other chemicals they use on the roads. I've got 3 years and 30k miles on them and they look like the day I bought them.

I bought them for that specific reason.
