What's Washington all about?

But honestly your current state is probly better for guys like us. Is the money worth it?

Like I said above, I love Montana and I think this will always be my home. As far as the money, I guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. The money is pretty good. Montana, at least the Bozeman area has an attitude that you can pay people much less if you are allowing them to live here.

Bozeman has its far share of liberals, we were one of two districts that voted for Obama. I think that's the nature of a college town. I think we have decided to make a trip to the area over presidents day and check things out. No matter how this turns out, I think I will return to MT in a couple years but for now we are thinking that trying something different and exploring another part of the country might be fun for a couple years.

Thanks goes out to everyone that replied, you guys have been a huge help and made us feel a lot better about trying something new. If anyone wants to come out to MT and ride West Yellowstone or Cooke City let me know, you're welcome to crash here and I'll be more than happy to show you around my backyard.

House for sale

Anyone who wants to move to Montana, I have a house for sale in the Flathead. 20 minutes from the trailhead of the South Fork (Hungry Horse Res.). We can keep the realtors out of it to keep the price down.

I've been offered a job in the Bremerton area and trying to decide if it's a good move. We currently live in Bozeman, MT. The riding here is really good, both dirt bikes and sleds and most good spots are within an hour or so. Is there anything close to Bremerton? I guess I don't mind giving up the sled for awhile but not sure if I could deal with dumping the sled and the bike. What kind of camping, sledding and dirt biking are in the area?

I've heard mixed reviews about the area, any info about the recreation around there would be really helpful and appreciated.

I grew up in the area, moved away for college, and moved back. I know the area extremely well. I remember when Hiway 16 ran down Sixth Ave in Tacoma and still had stop lights.

Coming from MT, you'll probably want to get out of Bremerton proper -I would suggest looking at Port Orchard/Ollala/South Kitsap, Belfair if you want to find a place that isn't on a lot surrounded by other houses.

Belfair has Tahuya state ORV park, which is great for dirt biking (as i understand it, haven't had a bike in a while, hoping to fix that this summer). Nearest snowmobiling is Greenwater, or I-90 (about 2 hours drive for both). Baker is a bit of a haul, as is St Helens (4 hours drive). Mason Lake is great for waterskiing (about 45 minutes from Bremerton proper), but can get busy. Boating in the Sound is a given, just remember to wash the salt off when you are done.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Let me know if you

If you don't like rain check out the Sequim area for a place to live. It is in the rain shadow of the Olynpics and has an annual rainfall of 15 inches. Ponderosa Pine even grows naturally around there. It's more than 30 minute commute. Maybe someone knows about how long it would take.

The place you live is what you make it.

It's an hour drive to Bremerton from there. I'm there a couple times a week for biz.

Taxes and liberal politicians will make you wish you were back in MT real soon.

Montana-
High property taxes and state income tax
Governor-Democrat
Both US Senators-Democrat
Majority of Montana Government-Democrat
Federal lands under attack and threatened with Wilderness designation. Very similar to Washington

Just curious why so many on here think that Montana is a non-tax, non-liberal wild west?

Here's another question for you guys. Is the area south of Bremerton nice? We are looking for a some what rural place to live if thats possible in that area. I don't really mind a commute of 30 minutes or so to work. I think I'm going to fly out there in a couple weeks and look around and I'm just kind of looking for a place to start.

Yes, lot's of great rural areas around Bremerton. I live in Gig Harbor, and it's right at a 30 min commute if one was to try to travel to bremerton. There are some extremely nice places in the outliing areas around bremerton. You could go any direction 30 mins and have loads of options. Personly I would not look past a job in bremerton but would look out side it to live.... Belfair would put you 15 mins to the dirt biking and 30min or less to bremerton ( on a two lane hwy , not a busy freeway ).

30 mins would put you in anywere from gig harbor, to belfair, or silverdale and anything in between. Port orchard has some great places to live and is more affordable than some of the other places but for us there highschools rep was a turn off... I don't know about any other schools ( if it matters to you ) than the gig harbor schools and they have been amazing.

Your not in the telecom field are you? Oddly enough the company I work for was looking for a CO tech's in bremeton.

Good point. In some ways, it's a different Dem. But, the next thing you know, you realize it wasn't really a sheep after all.

Good motobiking and kiteboarding near Belfair....just way far from sleddin

I just built a house in White Salmon. Kiting, sailing and at the base of mt Adams for sledding. hows the riding there? havnt been there in the winter yet?

Its good from what I hear, haven't kited there yet. I'm over in eastern WA and ride Potholes near Moses Lake. There can be some good snowkiting near here if we had snow. The Puget Sound is good in fall thru spring for water kiting. Lots of places. Check out PSKite forum. Have you kited St Helens or Adams yet?????

I have been to Bozeman its nice but rampant with liberal nutjobs similar to what you will find in the Seattle area so it should not be much of a culture shock for you. Washington is nice overall, beautiful with lots of outdoor recreation snowmobiling included. The weather can be a little rough in winter but the sledding can be good if you hit it before the pineapple express rolls in and rains on it all.

I hope that all of you who are complaining about the "lefties" stealing land have taken the time to write forest service and other government officials, and have given them your opinion. Keep in mind the reason the other side wins is because they are more dedicated to their cause. They don't just complain about it to each other, they take action. They are the ones forming coalitions and grassroot organizations, yet the rebuttal from the majority of snowmobilers is nothing more than name calling and bitching to each other. I posted a direct link to the forest supervisor's email in Wenatchee and hardly anyone has looked at it, yet you all slap each other on the back when someone slams a liberal. We are going to lose our ability to snowmobile because we did nothing to keep it.

Agree 100%. We will NOT be snowmobiling in the future unless sledders change their attitudes and start fighting for their sport. Currently there are 871 viewers browsing the polaris forum talking about how cool the new Pro rmk is. and currently there is 1 viewer browsing the land use forum. thats pathetic.
