whats ur fuel mileage pulling a 24' enclosed

Could you guys and gals give me an idea of what your fuel economy is pulling a bigger enclosed trailer. I just got back from the snowies and pulling a 24' enclosed trailer behind my 09 duramax I was only able to get 9 miles to the gallon that is rediculous. I was able to get 12-13 last yr with same truck and same trailer.

Depends on the conditions, but anywhere from 8-13. If there's a bad headwind, you can stop worrying about mileage because it's not going to be good :)

I'm towing with an 02 Powerstroke.

Sounds like you need a good EFI Live tune on that truck!

Just reading a magazine in the store on all the new diesel trucks, most were reported to be 10-13 MPG average, empty.

I'd say 9 towing that is about right.

With all the different trucks pulling our 29' enclosed, we have averaged 9-12. Mostly around 9-10. All different makes and engines.

In my 22 foot enclosed last year no head wind in my 5.3 got 9 to 10 with wind down in the 6 mpg range Havnt been on a trip with my duramax yet.

24' weighing 7900 pounds (hauling the GT) behind my 05 Powerstroke on 37's, got 11mpg stock tuned. 12000 pound diamond drill that is not very aerodynamic, i could only see 9mpg. I attack the hills like im in a hurry or something tho, so it probably could be a tad better.

Anyone have any idea what you would kinda expect for mileage with a hemi?

I actually owned two 05' Hemi's. We averaged about 7-8 pulling with them.........I once got 5 ****IN MPH pulling my 5000lb travel trailer back from Vegas in a head wind, so with them it can vary alot.

24 ft - 4 sleds in mountains 15-16 . cummins powered ford. spent alot of time tuning afc fuel. trucks puts down 800 + ftlbs at 1900 rpm. towing 8000 to 10k on the flat i get 18.

1995 Dodge 5.9 5 spd with 10' Alaskan Camper pulling a 22' Pace V Nose with 2 sleds and lots of gear we get 10 to 14 mpg I have varied results depending on where fuel was purchased and the amount of #1 diesel they put into the winter blend. If ya hit a head wind it goes down from there and in Wyoming you gonna hit a head wind coming or going.

Too many variables to get apples to apples but pulling my 24' camper that weighs roughly 8,000 loaded, running down the highway/interstate at 60-65mph, I average around 7-7.5 mpg overall (summer). I've never dipped below 5 and I've seen as high as around 10-11, but depends on the hills, wind, general incline/decline of road. These averages are for round trips of 1200 miles with a max elevation gain of 11,000 ft.

6.0 300hp gas engine
4.10 gears
265/75 16 tires
Crew cab GMC 2500 with 4L80e tranny (4 spd)

Awesome truck, are you the one that was featured in diesel world recently?? I can't wait till someday i have the time and money to build a 79 hiboy with CTD in it!

thanks- yes its in diesel world kind of on accident- i went to pick up a clutch from a friend at edge dyno day, mine slips a little. got there early so i dynoed- didnt do to well due to clutch slip but a couple of magazines were pretty excited about my truck. they asked me to take it to car wash and clean it up. anyway towing speed is a factor. 65-70 is good for me but over 70 it drops

This truck gets consistantly 17 to 20 mpg emty I was just thinking that a drop of 8 to 11 mpg was a bit rediculous would a chip help the mpg any, and would it be worth it for the money the chip costs. Lastly if a chip is worth the money for the fuel economy what chip would you guys recommend thanks

My father Has a 96 dodge 3500 v-10, great truck no problems. The fuel milage is VERY is easy to calculate in his truck, 10mpg all the time! unloaded, loaded, trailer, head-wind, no matter what 10mpg! Oh well it is a 8.0
