Whats Up With Cats Warranty??

Bought a 2010 m8 162 this year and my dealer said I can't put nothing on my sled or it will void warranty. Pretty much venting, type of oil you use, and the can will void it. He mentioned something about the can will show up as a different compression and will void the warranty.
I don't understanding the warranty thing. Why are they so touchy this year?
anyone else heard this?

They can only suggest an oil to you, if they tell you using a different oil then what they recommend will void the warranty they need to provide it to you for free (From what I have been told). Other mods I'm not sure on, though could be possible to void the warranty.

Sounds like you dealer is a DB! My dealer told me that I could only put his head on my sled and only his clutch set up or my warranty would be void.
I found an other dealer that knows what they are doing.

My advice. . . . Find a new dealer

They are trying to void warranty's over anything they can these days to save money.
I had two seized heim-joints on my tie rods and wanted to rep;ace them on a Friday so I could ride on Saturday. They wanted me to bring the whole sled down so they could take pictures and send them to Cat for "evaluation", then wait two weeks for an answer.
I said that that was stupin and I wasn't bringing them the whole sled, but I'd remove the seized joints from the tie rods and bring them down. They threatened to void my warranty if I removed them myself!

I hung up on them.

It's up to Arctic Cat not the dealer. As far as I understand, the dealer has to prove to AC that whatever is wrong falls under warrenty to get paid for the work they do. If you find a good dealer I'm sure they will refrain from trying to blame something on venting or a can unless it is the obvious cause of the problem.

Your dealer SUCKS!!

I had removed my stock head to put on a RK Tek head and after installing the RKT I noticed my factory head had some pitting on one of the domes, so after phoning my dealer he said to bring in the sled and they will have a look. Since I trust my dealer, I left the RKT one on and took it in. They figured it was a piece of foreign material in there from factory that was spit out the exhaust as they couldn't find anything anywhere that would cause that pitting. They said there was NO damage to the piston, or cylinder wall, but just for MY piece of mind, they honed the cylinder and put in a new piston, then replaced the aftermarket head and ordered me a new factory head.

Now THATS a good dealer!!

DONS SPEED PARTS in Wainwright, Alberta Canada. Best dealer ever!!!:beer;

The dealer can not void anything, However they do for the most part require you to bring in the whole sled when warranty work is preformed. If the aftermarket part caused the failure then they are not required to fix the failure, but your warranty is not void. They would still have to fix any warranty issues not related to the aftermarket caused failure.

I would really like to see some sort of writing from Arctic Cat, or a law or something that states that the dealer cannot void warrantee for... This, this and this reason... etc. Cause there's so many dealers out there that will try to rip you off.... It's hard to argue with them without any proof. Thanks...

Arctic cat has warranty? I took my sled to a dealer and they would not fix my tores and said it was because of the handle bar riser " Never again to that dealer Not a cent out on my pocket will he get" Not only did they seem short on mechanical skill they are short on good buisness sence.

I believe that Cat is cracking down on some dealers that send in questionable claims that they could not back up later.

I got some stuff warrantied late last spring that took 60 days to get approved and a rep had to look at the parts first. Not because of my dealer but because of other dealers with claims on the same parts.

Just my $.02

It's the DEALER not Arcric Cat causing you the grief. I have a great dealer up here and they take care of their customers. A bad dealer's favorite saying is "Arctic Cat won't cover it." Which really means " I don't give a d**n "

It was kinda funny because, all I wanted to do was put a can on and drop some weight. they said it will cause issues and if there is some service updates, it won't be covered. ow I take my sled to Dakota performance and get work done. Jeff is by far the best in the business and will always go out of his way to help someone out.

If your only putting a can on it just take it back to the dealer with the stock can on it.

Your dealer is either really new or has had some problems with Cat

there are a lot of faulty claims where people do stuff then remove aftermarket parts and try to warranty. The right can shouldn't be a problem, just find the right dealer. the dealers are also trying to save you in the end, they can't guaranty the warranty unless the sled is completely stock the way AC built and tested it. Any dealer that is covering aftermarket parts has to get the money out of his own pocket. but if you put a can on and the track falls apart then it should be covered no matter what, because it has no direct effect on the track. but if the motor goes then it could be questioned.
