WHATS THE BEST TURBO FOR THE NYTRO????

now forget everything else, what turbo kit can you pull the most power out of in a nytro? :face-icon-small-hap

Well I don't know about MAX power but the major benefit to the Impulse kit is you can run the high boost/HP numbers by just using race fuel and turning up the boost. Where as the MCX kits you have to choose between the 180, 240, 270 kits.

the impulse kits are mapped up to 22+ lbs of boost with race fuel but by no means are you ever going to need to run that much boost.

True that Spooled. One of the BIGGEST benefit like I said earlier is the fuel delivery system. On Paul's Impulse system you can run 91 Octane and run up 17lbs of boost all day long. I've run it on my sled and many other have as well and I know Paul has had zero motor issues on his test sled that he built the system on for the last year and a half. Wanna hit 19lbs run 1/2 91 and 1/2 110. That's at 6000 feet of course. There is no need to run over 18-19 lbs on the Nytro and to be honest it won't handle over 20lbs on a consistent basis unless you get all the motor work done including titanium valve springs. The stock springs will max out at about 20 lbs and you will see no further benefit from turning up the boost. Word has it Paul is creating a closed loop addition to his fuel delivery system. That means you can tune it anywhere you ride with the flip of a switch.

Impulse hands down. A lot of great kits but Paul's stuff is the best and his service is legendary. Like Franklin I think the world of val but my non race kit with the 2871 was dead even with a propane sled at Tony's and the propane sled was running 8 more pounds of boost. I then added 2 more lbs and I was much faster and I weigh 250. Val makes a great product but I have yet to see a propane sled keep up with a really good running gas turbo at anywhere near the same boost levels. Props for the innovation and quality of Val's work though

Well i am just comparing my new sled to my gas powered mcxpress apex, my nytro would dominate my old apex where i had to run race fuel at 17 psi to be even close. I really dont see how the weight is any worse distributed than the impulse kit where both kits have the huge under seat tanks, midmount turbos, simmons has the mixer up front aswell as the obvious intercooler, impulse has the surge tank and the intercooler. So I am obviously a little biased but as I stated I would have gotten the impulse kit had it not been for me being tired of buying and mixing race fuel. I agree that gas does make more power lb for lb forsure but I dissagree to being waayy behind as you have stated especially if hes running 24 lbs, I normally run only 22lbs and believe me , thats more than enough to get the blood going. I would love to have both kits actually but this kit fits my needs and desires. Funny how passionate we all get when asked what the best kit is, cheers to everyone loving the same sport as much as I do! Look forward to ripping it up with all the different yamaha's out there this winter.

just to clarify not to knock, but you are forgetting to mention that just one of those tanks weigh more than the impulse tank, there are 2 mixers a throttle body plenum with a second blow off valve a propane filter, mounting brackets, braces, a huge *** muffler and pipe there just plain and simple way way more parts in a propane kit. the propane sled is not any where near the weight of a an impulse.

Standalone for the impulse nytro!!!!!

more consistant fueling throughout the rpm/boost/throttle range makes it one of the cleanest running sled from top to bottom day in and day out!

to many variables to HP per lb of boost but if all things equal (head shim, motor mods, cam timing, intercooler design/efficiency, header design etc) fueling will be a major factor in how the sled runs and makes power!

See I was telling you the truth.

Impulse or MC Xpress. You cant go wrong with either one.

Im sorry I just dont believe that one propane tank could weigh more than the impulse tank. They are both made out of aluminum, both made to last, and im talking full, considering propane weighs less than gas I'd say its a close wash, but who am I to judge never seen in person the impulse tank, never weighed mine but will ask the Simmons how much they weigh and will repost. All the other little extras you mentioned are a small wash as well, the exhaust I thought was tiny lol, mounting brackets, really??? Impulse doesnt use mounting brackets?? lol Remember im not knocking impulse at all here, I am sure they are great, I wanted one actually but had it not been for my desire to not run race fuel anymore i went with my current set up with zero regrets, way more power then i'll ever need and reliable power was all I wanted, its crazy fast IMO.

Any one have an Ulmer racing Turbo? Allen makes great stuff and great prices and second to none in customer service! Thats why he is puting a 210 hp on my 2010 Nitro this summer.

More info on the HP3

The aluminum tanks weigh in at about 32 lbs, they will legally hold 11 gals, 11 gallons of propane weighs just over 46 lbs for a total 78 lbs. The stock plastic Apex tank weighs 14 lbs with 10 gallons of fuel at 64 lbs for a total of 78 lbs. So with a full tank of fuel the weight is a wash with 1 gallon more capacity with propane and when empty neither sled can go anywhere. Fuel consumption is very near equal in mpg. Depending on the source, propane octane is anywhere between 112 and 128 octane. So that being said, people can draw their own opinion about any weight issues. :face-icon-small-coo

They are all good.........well 3 or 4 of them anyways:face-icon-small-win
Most take a 138 hp motor and double the HP .......in my mind that is good.:face-icon-small-ton
Some do it on pump, some do it on race , some do it on propane. Get the one you have access to service and parts "just in case". Ride with the "slow 'em up speicals" once in a while just so you clear your mind why you ride a sled that is 50 lbs heavier than them:face-icon-small-hap
Happy boostin'

I have had both hp3 and the impulse nytro completely apart and i know every piece on either sled i am just saying that there are way more parts that make up the propane setup, having said that its not like the impulse kit doesn't have anything but the weight difference is is clearly there. i also enjoy riding both sleds.

If you had to choose, which one would you pick?
