whats the best mountain sled?????????

I've been riding for a while but not too much in the mountains and I would like to start. So what is the best mountain sled? I'm looking for an honest answer, I don't want to hear the doo guys s**t talking the cats, and vise versa. I'm thinking around a 150" track and a 800cc engine, and nothing older than 2005. I'm pretty sure that I don't want a Yamaha, too heavy.

I have had an 06 rev summit x 151 which was great the only complaint I had was not quite enough power for my fat azz, I rode a 07 m1000 which I liked much more as it had some mods and more power, sold it last year and went back to a 06 rev summit x with a 159 holtz suspention and a straight line 950 and it has become the best machine that I have owned, My friend owns an 07 rev summit x and after he had the cluthching isues delt with its great, do some research on that year of 800 alot of motors have cratered and some people have had more than 1 motor go on them. A couple of my buddies ride the new xp and they are great as well the one fella has a 880 kit by Al @ the sled shed and it rips! and has no issues. I guess it boils down to how much you want to spend,where you will be doing most of your riding and the dealers you have around you for parts and service. If you have some friends or buddys with a couple of different sleds I would strongly suggest trying a couple different sleds out as it becomes more of a preference thing as appossed to which is better than the other as I think that all the manufacturers make a good product. sorry for the long message but I hope this helps. Good luck!, and let us know how it goes.

2006 summits were the top dog in that year hands down--2007 --toss up summit--dragon--2008 xp even with the issues were a awesome sled--2009- xp or m8---thats my story and i'm sssstttickin tttto it--:beer;:beer;:beer;ride um all buy what fits ya:eek::D

they are all makin great sleds these day's they all have their problems, which are now very minimal......... buy from the dealer that gives the best service in your area.............. thats my opinion.............

dealer support

I second mgd on this one - whichever dealer in your area has the most knowledge when it comes to tuning and that you enjoy dealing with.

Ride them and decide, and take dealer into account. I love my xp, just as the next guy is gonna say he loves his M, and the next guy loves his dragon. After about 100 miles on an xp, you get the feel down, and you'll be non stop smiles.

we have a summit x, an assault, a 700rmk, M8, and my m1000 in our group.............. I like them all, don't believe you can go wrong...........

polaris dealer wants me to buy a assault and the cat dealer wants me to buy a m8, not sure which one to go for, but the polaris dealer is willing to deal, by dropping the price and some accessories(can, gas rack, seat bag, cover, spare belt) and cat is pretty firm on the price. Both on the shops seem to know what they are talking about. I still don't know?????????????:beer;:eek::beer;

Don't be stupid and buy the 900. There is a reason they are giving big discounts and such. Sorry don't mean to offend any of you but the gaud daam machines love to smoke motors.

If you are going with an 09, I'd say go with an M8. Easy to ride, they come well set up for the mountains, they are light, and they climb.

?????

All the sleds are great, yes. But they all have very different traits. In my opinion the cat is the hardest to ride. The Dragon is the easiest, And the rev is the most fun due to its quick handling. The Dragon is my choice for big mtn. sled, predictable, stable, yet cuts the rug when you need it to! I dont know why I have such a hard time with the m chassis, the steering feels so vague and it feels very unstable, plus over the last 5 years I have seen parts fall off the m's that I didn't even know could fall off. Never use ac stock spare plug holders(directly over the clutches) cost my ridin buddy both clutches!

I would say ride the sleds and get the one that feels the best to you. I rode an m8 and I just didnt care for it. Although the next guy loves it. Its all about what feels best to you. I ride an 07 summit 800r, and im currently dealing the the crank issue. I love the way the rides though,and the power of the motor.
