What's the best/cheapest belt everyone is using for a spare??

I run the XS809 as my primary, have a 115 in my spare holder, and carry an 080 in my backpack in case of dire needs. I've only ever blown 1 080 belt on my '11 sled but for some reason I like to carry 2 spares with me because if I blow one, I don't want to ride half assed for the rest of the day for fear of breaking another and being screwed.

Been running the 115's on my previous '11 and on my current '13. No problems with these belts. And I carry a spare 080 just in case someone needs a tow job back to the barn. No need burning up a 115 on a tow.

Just bought a 048 today for $80 and a 115 for $190 (ouch). I will see how it goes once I start riding. I am trying out a local guys clutch kit this year on my 14. I plan on running the stock setup first. I also carry a digital temp gun when figuring out clutching so I will take some notes between belts and clutch kits. The temp gun has always been the best tool for me to figure out what setup to run.

I have always gone with the stock belts, and have had good luck.
My luck would be, have an after market belt, then have the motor chit the bed, and not be covered because of the belt. :face-icon-small-dis

I blew up 2 115's last season. Not happy. I check my clutch alignment and it was off. Then I checked the motor mounts, they were sloppy. 1200 miles on a 12 pro. Seems a little early to be replacing motor mounts to me. I put in the SLP torque arm kit in and bought 2 xs809's. I hope this makes things a little happier in the clutch department.

Any suggestions would be great :)

048 cat belt. Both as my spare and my belt I always run. It runs better than the 115 polaris belt and lasts just as well. I dunno what is considered excessive deflection adjustment but 3 turns seems within normal range to me. Ran these belts on all 3 of my pros and all of my buddies as well.

My spare is the same as whats on the clutches... a Polaris 3211115 belt... longest lasting that I've tried... I get a season out of the belt with regular cleaning of belt and clutches.

IMO... it is the best belt for these sleds.

Because of my workload, I only get to put 500 -600 miles a year on. At that pace, I am in no big danger of wearing belts out so I keep a spare used belt in the holder. The rare times I've used it I just put it on and then buy a new one as soon after that as possible.

That said, the 1122 and the 1080 both make good spares. Hmm, recently I saw a comparison chart of all the Polaris belts - wish I could remember where because it talked about all the different characteristics (and dimensions) of the various stock Polaris belts. Basically, it went 1080, 1122, 1115 good, better, best. All have almost identical dimensions, the difference being in materials and tolerances.

I don't agree on the "a lot of deflection adjustment", and the cost being 1/2 of a poo, if where you're buying them is charging that much then they figured they could make easy money, I have been running the cat belt(048) on a 12' pro, a 13' pro, and a 13'turbo pro. I've never paid over $65 for one, I have 10 buddies also running them that paid the same, I've never broke one, never shredded one, never had any out of the ordinary deflection adjustment on one, have I and all my buddies just been lucky??? If so, great!!! They pull hard, they last, and you can get 3 for price of a stock belt. I've always properly broke them in and heat soaked them properly, maybe that's my good fortune. Good luck

What your source for the Cat belts? Are they softer like the Pol 1122s thus loose 200 rpm? Any creeping (belt sheeve clearance) issues?

Snow west test please!

That's like 8 different belts tons of imformation , almost to much. Here's some testing for snowest riders, should keep them busy. Which belt is best & most economical.:face-icon-small-ton

Call Michelle at Oregon Trail Sport, 048 cat belts last year were $65, Maybe they've gone up because of all the poo guys buying, it's Oregon so no sales tax and shipping is reasonable.

Pray for SNOW!

Just ordered a gates kevlar 4553 for my boys 13 600rmk. $53. shipped. :biggrin1: Not too worried about performance on this sled so its a good way to try one out. If it doesnt perform thats still a dang cheap spare. Belts are the snowmobile industries equivalent to printer ink cartridges. Its a racket.

Gates G-force Xtream was
$66 from O'Reillys. They have this belt as a regular stock item so its always on hand. Is it as good as the stock belt? No... But for a backup it will work just fine. Also, when your pulling someone out on the trail you don't want to burn your 115 up anyways.
