What's the best/cheapest belt everyone is using for a spare??

I have been looking to find the best deals on spare drive belts for my Pro but don't wanna pay 150 bucks for a Polaris brand. I read somewhere that you can run an Arctic Cat #048 on the Pro's and get great performance with them... is this true?!

Did you purchase it for a spare or are you running it now? I am really interested in the Arctic Cat belts.. word is they are only 65 bucks, last long, pull harder and they add about 200 rpm on the top end.

I have been using a Dayco XTX5020 on my '09 777 with outstanding results. Had SLP balance and install MTX weights on my '14 clutch, at which time I had them check the belt-to-sheeve clearance with a new (washed) XTX5020 belt. The new 115 is in the trailer cabinet.

Most all of my Polaris guys around here are running the 048. It is more than $65.00, but about half the price of a Polaris belt and functions and lasts great. You will have to adjust the deflection on your secondary slightly in most cases, but that is easy to do.

An allen wrench and a closed end wrench. Both in your tool kit. You will see the deflection bolts on the outside face of the secondary clutch. You loosen the nut and then tighten the bolt for more deflection or loosen it for less, and then reset the nut.

I have tried the Ultimax XS, Cat 048, and Poo 1080... none work as well, or last as long as the Poo 1115. The Cat came close but required way too much deflection adjustment for my liking. I now carry an expensive 1115 spare at all times. I am pretty hard on belts though:face-icon-small-sho I always meant to try a Dayco, but nobody near me stocks em.

I don't agree on the "a lot of deflection adjustment", and the cost being 1/2 of a poo, if where you're buying them is charging that much then they figured they could make easy money, I have been running the cat belt(048) on a 12' pro, a 13' pro, and a 13'turbo pro. I've never paid over $65 for one, I have 10 buddies also running them that paid the same, I've never broke one, never shredded one, never had any out of the ordinary deflection adjustment on one, have I and all my buddies just been lucky??? If so, great!!! They pull hard, they last, and you can get 3 for price of a stock belt. I've always properly broke them in and heat soaked them properly, maybe that's my good fortune. Good luck

Braaaapppp!!!!

Why do you want a cheap belt for a spare? What do you do when your expensive belt gets worn out or blows in the middle of a day of riding? Do you limp around and the go buy a good belt before you hammer down again?

I always try to have a new broken in belt in the spare holder and break it in when putzing around on the trails so if I happen to shuck one I can throw the spare in, warm it up and let er rip.

Same results here. I'm open to a cheaper belt. I don't like getting raped by Polaris. But I only use 1-2 belts a year. I don't like the dip in RPM's with the softer belts. The softer belts don't last as long either so it's hard to say the cheaper belts are worth it.

I keep my worn Polaris belts as extras. I'm on my 6th Polaris sled and I have yet to blow a belt (knock on wood!).

All i run is the dayco xtx i get about 600 to 800 miles before it starts tearing out the cords. Half the price of polaris and it comes with a year warranty.

I always run the Polaris 1115. These belts are so tough I got 1500 ks last year turboed. I Break them in properly, and have my backup pre broken in. So really I am only cycling thru to my next belt. After every weekend of riding, remove the belt and wash it in dish soap, and hang dry. Wash the clutch faces with red scotchbrite and then with brake clean. If you keep your clutches clean, and adjusted correctly built life is extended greatly. But the Cat belt does interest me....

Ya must have a different tool kit than we get here in Wa---but it is very easy to bye the allen wrench and box end wrench, and very easy to ajust.

My favorite belt is the Carslile XS 809. I get them for $99 shipped to AK, and they have a one year warranty on them too. I usually blow one to two a year and cash in the warranty every year. They take about 6 weeks to get a new back to you. I tried the cat belt. I didn't feel like I got the same performance out of it compared to the 115 or the XS809. I don't go with the 115 due to the price and no warranty. I never get more than 600 miles to a belt... No matter which kind.

where are you getting that belt shipped up here for $99?

Ultimax XS 809 has been my choice for the three last seasons, alot of my buddies has been running them also. I have never shredded any, but other have done so....and when they blow they make one he** of a mess.

I bought new ones from the vendor I use a couple weeks ago, got some belts that said they where the ultimax xs but they looked alot different than the older ones I had run. Contacted carlisle and they confirmed a change in the design. I am excited to see how it holds up.

The carlisle rep said they where atleast as strong as the old ones, and reminded me that the warranty covers me if they break, as mentioned above. Maybe the new belts wont break into a thousand pieces but fail more like the original polaris belt.

Picture of the two attached.
