Whats my 09 M1000 153 going to be worth?

What makes you think 2010 is the last year. The economy is what hurts not the fact of what sleds they make, at least right now anyway.

I think you have to agree that with the trouble the 1000 has had that cat is considering dropping this model from the line up. With the Z1 turbo now available with a long track kit. That sled has to weigh less than the Yamaha. With 170 plus horse and able to turn it up from there along with some light weight parts could be interesting. Not knocking the 1000, Would like to have one myself, but first things first. When you look at the issues some of the 1000's have had and negative rep has to make it hard for cat to justify the 1000 for much longer.

Bad rep??

I know there has been a lot of bad press on the M1000, but I personally haven't had any issues, other then the stupid reflash A/C did to my 07 in 08. I cured that with a BD Box, and it is still running like a scalded cat. I also added a few go fast parts to the machine over the past few years (no more then I did with my doo's) just to keep in the hunt of the new iron, and I can honestly say this is the best sled I have ever owned - I can only imagine the newest versions are much better.

It just seems like its on its way out, I hope they keep it but they are only offering the 162 sno pro in 2010 so it just looks to me like they are using up what motors the have in inventory, or maybe whats left on their contract with Suzuki of the M1000 motors. They made no changes to th 1000 and reworked the 800 to put out all most as much hp. As far as problems with the 1000 I have all of mine worked out but it took me all season. I wish they would keep the 1000 and fix the problems. The Z1 is alot heavier than the 1000 from the numbers I have seen.

Are there really that many problems with the 08 and 09s?
In our area, most of the issues were 07s, and alot of it was poor mapping and a poorly designed 4 tower clutch. Both of which have been adressed.
You need to keep in mind that a lot of failures were not STOCK sleds.

Times are tough, why revamp the entire line up?
At least that is how I look at it.

IMO, cats next move should be to work out the bugs on the 2011 M-8 (if there are any) and then do the same that they did to the 2010 m-8 to the M-1000 in 2011.
There is no replacement for displacement!
If they refine the 1000 in 2011 and have 180hp+ stock. they will sell a TON of sleds... Just like they will next year with the M-8.
*crosses fingers*

M1000 is not going anywhere. Heard it will most likely get a re-work on the motor like the M8 did. They would be crazy to dump it. Only manufacturer that is competitive in the 1000 cc 2-stroke class. I have had two now with no complaints or issues.

Yeah, I really hope they come out with a M1000 HO next year. Somewhere in the 180-190 HP range. It will be disappointing if they drop it, but with the number of left over '08s that everyone was selling this year it does make me wonder how well the 1000 really does sell.

I guess I have never bought a sled worrying about what it will sell for down the road. I buy a sled on what I feel it needs to have for performance and so far I like it. Just my 2 cents.

Most issues where on modded m1000's, My 09 stock was amazing and now modded its not going to get beat by any other sled without $1000's of dollars dropped in it. My WY dealer has always promoted the m8 and when asked about the m1000 he said the reason for only one model next year is to try and clear out the 08's left on showroom floors, I only know of 1 09 still at a dealers out of 5 dealers. AC forced a lot of 08's on dealers because of the way they went out in 07 but without many changes no one wanted to upgrade, but the 09's went fast. The price of the SP 2010 m1000 is going to be a bit more than the left over 08's witch will create incentive to go with the 08. What AC should do is offer an upgrade package for the 08 to make it a 09 to the dealers so they can move them. I think you can convert the rear of the sled for around $300, through on a PC $550, reflash ecu run a wire for reverse change the helix and drop in a new style DD $1000 and you have an 09 practically. Total thats around $1850, dealer cost would be even less and if AC would help them out on exchange for the old parts it would be less. Technically I think if they make it just like an 09 they could change the title over to a 09, then they would sell them off. They upgrade the m8 because of the 800 class and there is competition between manufacturers the m1000 is by itself. The only way I think it would go is if they outlaw 2 stokes.

I really hope they don't drop the M-1000 and if they could make a factory stock sled pushing 190h.p., I think they would be able to sell plenty of them. The 1000cc class doesn't have any competion, but with all the work going into the 800 class sleds it makes it hard to justify spending more money on a heavier sled that may not perform as well as the 800 class, especially if you put the diffrance in cost into the 800, you would end up with a lighter higher hp sled for the same money. That would make it a no brainer. I have started to like my sled since I have been able to get the clutching tuned in better. But I have rode with some M8's that have been modded a little and they freaking rip!! The 09 was lighter and had way less vibration. But I'm not sure I want to give up on the 1000 just yet, I know there is some potential in there.

It will be around till 2012. After that who knows, thats when the next big wave of e.p.a. standards kick in. Wish they(epa) would go away.

Unfortunatly they will probably be even stronger with our new king. Maybe they could put converters on the two strokes then you could put after market pipes on and eliminate the converters drop weight and gain power and the greenies would be none the wiser.

Never touched my 2007 M1000 as far as the ECU being reprogrammed. Still has the original factory flash and I would kill anyone who tried to update it!! It runs way to strong. I said from day one when this reflash crap came out don't do it, the first flashes are always the best performing. Everything else is just a detune. And still have my 4 tower clutch! Still lovin my 2007 M1000!!:D
