Just wondering if any of you cary "snowmobile specific" first aid items?

I always make sure I have a few disposable hand warmers, they've come in handy a few times when waiting for a storm to blow over enough that we could see to ride out (has happened three times in the past).

Any of you have more then just bandaids and tylenol?

We now bring a full first aid kit with us because last year my brother cased a landing on a jump while we were up the callahan and split his knee open... bad. About 4.5" right accross, we could see his knee cap and all the ligaments. All we had was one of those silly little kits with 1 piece of sterrile gauze and 2 bandaids in it. I McGivered a bandage out of a clean neck warmer out of my pack, a bungie chord off my buddies pack and a pair of spare goggles sinched down tight over the whole thing to keep pressure on it, and then rode back to the truck and took him to the hospital where he got 17 stitches on the outside and 4 on the inside.

duct tape
tampons
super glue

is all you need to stop a bleeding
I also carry large cotton wipes that are compressed into a pill. add water and they expand.

these are great for sledders:

Similiar incident with us last year, buddy smokes his bars and falls on his running board traction pieces in a whiteout. Drove his metal tab on his jacket through the skin under his chin and broke it off(12 stictches). Knee split wide open with knee cap showing(12 stitches inside, 12 outside). We barely had enough to stop the bleeding.

New kit is fully stocked, fills a shaving kit and fits neatly in the bottom of my pack.

all the usual first aid stuff then a few extras
benadryl always carry this now due to a bad allergic episode with someone in our group
asthma meds
cough drops and cough meds
narcotics from the light stuff to the heavy duty for the really bad accident cause we all know how long it can take for search and rescue to get to you.
imodium bad experience with this one too. Someone in our group.
tums
miagriane meds
lots of advil liqua gels tylenol is not a good anti inflammtory
gel pack hand warmers
emergency blanket
flask of booze good for sterlizing and nerves.
Usually I am the one in the group the carries the medicine cabinet and I mean the Drs medicine cabinet.

"benadryl always carry this now due to a bad allergic episode with someone in our group"

Throw in a pepcid also. With pepcid and benadryl you can block both H1 and H2 hystemines, good start on wilderness allergy problems.

Duct tape and extra clothing can bandage big wounds. Sam splints are very versitle. Take a CPR and first aid class. American Heart Association can get you through both in about 6 hours. If you spend time in the backcountry a Basic EMT class is helpful. Wilderness EMT is also a great class. A little common sense and the ability to improvise is invaluable.

If you(or someone in your group) get hurt badly in the Northern Big Horns contact Roberta at Bear Lodge, she is an EMT and will save your a$$ while the ambulance comes from Sheridan and Dayton.
