Whats going on with RSI?

The thing about it is when you build a product regardless of where its made and you say you will deliver said product at X date... DELIVER IT THEN!!!! Your season is super short.. .its not like you dont have all year to make it right... Oh wait you DO!!! There is NO REASON what so ever that a product should be back ordered 3 times and you should have some bull**** excuse 5 more times... The "BEST HANDLE BARS ON SNOW" Arent worth jack **** if they arent available and back order from china 94 times.... I was going to go with you guys for bar risers and cable extensions on my build this year... I build a couple sleds a year....
HOWEVER, after reading this I will be looking else where.... FLY RACING to be exact.... RSI You did this to yourselves with your AWFUL costumer service.

You really have no clue whatsoever. When you are dealing with an outside vendor you have no control on delivery dates no matter how much you babysit them.

Quit crying and buy something else.

They shouldn't have exact date for delivery then!!!!!. I'm with the "cry baby" on this one.
It's a bunch of crap they are telling him, by this date we'll have them, then they don't deliver.

The only real loser in the end of this case is RSI.

I personally love my RSI bar riser, although the kit I bought at the snow show didn't include the right length of bolts, it kinda made me wonder how tight their quality control is or how knowledgeable the guy at the booth was.

I've had a similar experience with them. I ordered a bunch of items that were all supposed to be in stock but it took over a month to get it. I called everyday and no one answered, left voicemails, emails and no one got back to me. I finally got through one day and they told me some things were backordered then it showed up a few days later.

i've had nothing but great experiences with the guys at RSI, however i have always dealt with them DIRECTLY either through their website or called them direct. always have gotten my parts in reasonable time as well. there is a reason that thousands of people out there and its probably even tens of thousands use RSI products, they are great and reasonably priced. its amazing how three or four people have a bad experience come on here and b*tch about it like their a terrible business. One must remember that for every 1 complaint like this there are hundreds to thousands of happy customers. and X2Freeride the fact that you would bring this thread back from the dead just to say something like that with no personal experience with the matter is a joke, and your suppose to be an administrator on here? way to see the bigger picture man

I didnt realize have an opinion regarding something was crying... Maybe that post was worded a little strong, So I will delete it.

I just feel strongly about company's that do things like this, without any consideration of the people that they are doing business with. You have to pay for something the second you order it... yet somehow its ok to not deliver the product until whenever it comes off back order.

Customer service goes a long way. You can have the best product in the world, but if your customer service is bad and when people order things they get back orders and no responses to delivery date inquiries your doing nothing besides hurting yourself and your business. As the saying goes a happy customer may tell 5 people a disgruntled customer is going to tell everyone that will listen.

Considering what I do for a living, I know all about outside vendors.
Our vendors are great, and yes occasionally stuff does come up on back order, but NEVER 3 times or for more than a week maybe 2 at most. We respect them and they respect us. Thats the hallmark of a quality business thats going to make it in this world.

With the way the economy is now days you wouldn't think places could afford to lose customers... Any business that doesn't take care of its customers cant want to have them or make it real bad.

Jkinzer regardless of my position on this site I am entitled to my opinion. Being a moderator doesn't mean I have to sit on my hands. You had a good experience with RSI. Awesome Im glad for you and anyone else that has. Thats the way it should be for every single person that ever orders anything from them, but dont down play the fact that there are other people out there that have had poor experiences with them. I dont understand why people that have had good luck with a business can not fathom that someone may have had a poor experience with the business. Does the fact that they have done right by you somehow down play what happened here to Chunkysoup87?

I ordered a set of their long handlebar hooks thru partsunlimited at my dealer in early september. I knew they were back ordered at the end of the season last year so i waited until september to order them figuring they would be caught back up. I have been given different backorder dates 3 times now. they just keep pushing it back. Now they say i wont have them til the middle of november. Ive tried calling rsi multiple times and no one will answer. Ive even left messages with no return phone call. I just want to know whats going on and why it seems to be so dam hard to make some handlebar hooks?

...Very poor customer service if u ask me!:face-icon-small-sad

Do you need hooks for aluminum or steel bars?

I guess it looks like this thread got a little out of hand now. I got the hooks about a month after my last post. They r a great product needless to say but the experience i had with them will stick with me. Im not coming on here and telling people to never buy from them but i am just spreading the word as to what happened to me.

Glad to hear you got the hooks, what happened with the cable that broke on you?

Like i said earlier, my dealer was having a hard time getting through to their warranty guy. I tried calling a couple times but couldnt even get them to answer the phone. It took about a month and a half to get a new cable back. In the mean time i used the cable that was already installed, it had a few kinks in it that made the throttle stiff but when i worked them out it was better. Im still not happy about the new cable because my throttle is very stiff again. I know i didnt kink it or anything but its really irritating when u buy a new cable to stop that and it doesnt work.

We will still honor our cable warranty, Can you let us know.
Thank you,
RSI

What do u want me to let u know? I bought a cable from u and it broke. It got sent in for warranty and now the new one is stiff and im not sure why... Maybe it got kinked during production, I dont know. If there is something i have to do let me know. Thanks

Offshore manufacturing is not an exact science. Ocean conditions, Asian Holidays, Dock Strikes, and Customs clearing are time sensitive things that a importer has no control of. Customs sent one of our shipments to intensive exam and did not release it for 6 weeks. So yes complain to us for customs holding our stuff for no reason.:face-icon-small-dis

If you think FLY racing is different as an importing company with occasional bad eta dates, you are very mistaken. Where do you think they get there products from, and designs? haha

Sorry for any problems you might have encountered. Try buying Tapered Jet Ski handlebars, talk about nothing works.

Thank you,
RSI

This thread screams "Made in the USA"

I am sure that you could find a shop in the U.S that can manufacture them for a price that the end user will pay for. Especially if you make it clear that "This product was made by the good men and women in the USA"

If given the choice, I would pay more for that. I bet most people would.

Most companies just assume that their product needs to be made in China for it to be viable.

Given the economy we now have, I think people are changing their minds and are paying more attention to where things are made.

Not slamming RSI for getting China made items, I just think that there is a real opportunity for those who want to source USA made items like this.....

Thoughts?

Jeff
the difference in margains is worth all the hassel getting parts across the pond. I just lost a job this week, the part that i had $16 in material alone, the are buying complete for $10. but the shipping time in very unpredicable so i was told to keep some on the shelf......Parts are made in china for pennies on the dollar.
sorry for the thread hijack.
carry on.

Vicious circle: People in this country constantly complain about the cost of products and that in turn drives manufactures to send manufacturing over seas. Then many of the same people complain that they lost their jobs due to cutbacks!!!!

I spend more time and effort in buying Made in the USA products than the vast majority of people I know. I often do with out because I can't find what I want by a made in the USA company. Of things you need, I stock up. Shoes are a prime example. I often buy 2 or 3 pair of the same shoe because it is difficult to find shoes made here.

Wal Mart - Don't even get me going on them. No single company could do more than Wal Mart to reinvigorate the economy if they would encourage their vendors to make the products domestically rather than forcing them to China!!!!

I hear what you are saying..........

Lets say that one supplier has handlebar hooks selling for $40 and another selling them for $60, bascially the same thing, but the second supplier makes it clear that "unlike competitors, we use good American workers to make ours"

I think people would go for that in most cases. Especially if it is a "one-off" item they buy for the life of a sled........

I dont know for sure, but I think sentiment is rising for American made stuff. I look for it when I buy stuff (Without much success I might add)

Made a conscious decision this summer when I was buying a new lawnmower. Looked at the Honda mower, then at the Toro. Even looked at the motors, one Honda, and the other Briggs. Went with the Briggs and Toro set up.......

Bought a new sled for this season, looked at all of them. Went with Cat (At least it is assembled in the US, even though the motor is not) (I am aware that Polaris is made in Minnesota as well)

I think more Americans are thinking that they have a responsibility to AT LEAST look at American made products if given a choice..

i hate polaris- my 800 edge blew up

i hate ford- my alternator and tie rod end went out in 500 miles

my no fog goggles fog up

i hear people bitch every day, like said above, for every one cry baby there are hundreds of happy customers. i just ordered my rsi stuff, hopefully it doesnt take too long.
