Whats going on here - 09 XP Summit X

Riding in valemount this past weekend compare my sled with my salesmans and 3 other xps, i'm caring very little track speed compare to all these other sleds, i jumped back and forth between my sled and the other one, he rode mine too, same results every time

Around 7000ft
Heavier soft powder snow

My sled - Only 35-40 MPH track speed
09 Summit X 800 154
Slp Single, Y pipe, Specialty Can
230/350 Spring in primary stock wieghts, and ramps
stock secondary
clicker 6
holding RPM at 8200-8300
20 tooth

His Sled - Turning 48-51 MPH track speed
09 Summit X 800 163
Stock pipe with Specialty Can
130/350 Spring in primary stock wieghts, and ramps
stock secondary
clicker 4
holding same rpm
20 tooth top

i'm trying to figure out why he's got so much more track speed, do you think it might have something to do with the slp pipe, every xp i ride rips, just not mine. does the start of the spring effect track speed, i didn't think it did. looking to see what you guys think.

thanks mike

Thats a very high engagment spring and yes it will effect performance to a degree if you dont compiesate with weight. Change one thing at a time and see where the loss is coming from. Id dump that spring 1st. sj

Friend has the full SLP pipe on his & works great. Did you try going down to #3, or did the rev's drop? Stk 480mj is good...

Your peak rpm is to high the 800R motor "peak powwrband" is between 8000 and 8100 some motors even 7900 anything over 8100 rpm the trackspeed drops off fast. Dropping your clickers down from #6 to #3 should bring your rpm back into the powerband unless you have other issues.

why did you not use the slp can? the specialty can may not be anywhere close to creating the back pressure to work with the slp pipe. other than your clutching, just something for you to consider.

I can't say I've seen many 163's carry 50mph track speed when climbing in powder.

You say "heavier soft powder snow"????? What the heck does that mean? Were you staying on top of the snow or were you diggin in 2'?

Switching to a 160/350 is not going to help your WOT track speed.

Talk to AL at the sled shed-revelstoke. He will take out ALL of the guess work.

Clicker 6 is the most inefficient setting possible. 6 will get you rpms's but no shift out and no track speed. If you need 6 for rpm try a different helix like a shockwave so you can adjust, you need less ramp angle to slow the up shift. Some may say to decrease pin weight, this will work but it will also decrease belt squeeze and the xp's need as much belt squeeze as possible.

I am a fan of the 19t gear as well but that's just me. My suggestion is to keep the pin loaded as much as possible and decrease ramp angle, install 19t and try to run #3 or #4 clicker, this is where the shockwave is the way to go, you can set your clicker at #3 and just keep backing the ramp down until you have desired rpm.

Just put first ride on Rooster built clutch kit and have to say i'm very impressed so far. the snow was very spotty going from pockets of powder to wind blown hard pack on some slopes, clutch shifted great. In area's with about 12 to 18 inches of fresh i finally got to enjoy 50-52 mph track speed on 154....honest! thanks paul
