Whats a good skid for an 03'Viper Mtn

I'm trying to pick a new skid for the Viper and was wondering what has worked well for anyone else. Mostly I want to lighten things up but better bump soaking is my next wish. :cool:

Please don't tell me to buy a new sled cause that's not gonna happen for a few years yet!;):beer;

I had a Cat skid in my Viper. Works well, better transfer and ride. Also saved about 20 pounds. Bought the skid from RV sports in Mn. It was a very low mileage take off. They get several of them each year and sell them for reasonable cost.
There are some threads on it here and in TY.com.

On my SRX's I used to use Doo skids and I've used Cat skids as well. The Doo skids rode better on the bumps and trails but I think the Cat skid had the edge off trail and the Cat skid is marginally lighter as well. For ride quality the new skid off of a Nytro is really pretty smooth. I've got one I'm going to be selling if you are intersted. I'ts a 153. What length are you going to?

M5

I used a 141 M7 skid set back to make it a 151 under my SRX. Cheap and easy to do.

Polaris X-tra lites are cheap, and easy to install. Use the front mounting holes and build new rear brackets and you're on your way.

I used a holz skid on a modded 780cc viper. It worked awesome off trail and really kept the track on the snow in a rough uphill drag race. It was expensive, but very light.

There is another Nytro XTX takeoff skid on TY.com for sale. I am installing one in my Viper as soon as I get the stock measurements for the XTX.

This is supposed to be a very good skid.

You will most likely not be impressed with the ride of the cat skid if you go that route. I have one in a mt max mod sled and like it off trail. Really keeps tranfer to a minimum. Great attack angle. Not as good ride quality wise as the stock yamaha skid though. If I was to do it over again I'd just buy an EZ Ryde and get it over with.

How about the timbersled kit for the viper???I have the eckholm on my 03 but Larrys not around anymore.....02;)

sx skid

Hey there im looking to go to a 136 but ii would go to a 144 if you get a new one and want to sell your old one let me know i might be interested thanks

rear skid

i would go with a Fabcraft for sure, super light weight without sacrificing durability like alot of other after market setups, i used one on mine and jumped the piss out of it and never had a problem
