well i have been seeing alot of helmet cam vids and i have liked them. i was woundering what some good ones were that are easy to use and good quality.
thanks, jayson

I like the go pro camera
water proof
wide angle lens 170
You can get about 1 hours worth of filming on a 2 gig card
5 mp

I just ordered the GoPro Wide and haven't received it yet. How do you aim it ? Does it have any kind of viewfinder ? Also I heard (after I paid for it) that it it is real hard on batterys. Any truth to this ?

do you already have a camcorder?

If so you can just buy the helmet cam with a mount and battery pack for less then 200$

I have the go pro and its pretty sweet a lot of different mounting options and easy on the wallet. The thing does eat batteries though. since it does use two AAA I just picked up some rechargable hopefully they last.

It has a little ajustment knob to tighten and loosen the camera to change the angle its pointed, I've found that the Eveready Lithium batteries are the only ones it likes, I tried the Duracell ones for digital stuff and they didn't last much at all.

Your being pointed down the right trail. The Go Pro is simple to operate and takes good quality shots. I purchased the ATC5 with 4 gig card, also good quality image with 2 hrs 'approx" vid time. Only draw back with it is it does not have a wide enough angle lens.

What do you need??

It depends on what you need.. is sound important to you? ease of use?, res?
battery life, etc, etc, You get what you pay for..Anything hooked to a camcorder wil be a total P..I.T.A. cheeper systems (under 400) will leave you wanting more.. but again that may be fine for most..
ck out the Motocam360 system.. all new for 09.. simple 1 button operation
wireless remote, records 4 gigs.. available at www.cyclopsmotorsports.com
Polaris shops
or a snowmobile show near you

I've also been looking at getting a new helmet camera.I have a samsung SC-X105L camera with a helmet camera and found it is a PITA. The battery would never last long enough in the cold to get the shots I wanted. The battery is specific to the camera and when I tried to order a second one it would never come in. So IMO stay away from samsung helmet cameras. So for a new one I am going to pick up a gopro wide angle.I have heard and seen alot of good footage from them. Also because they take AAA batteries witch are easy to find anywhere and you dont have to recharge them.

Cam

We have owned a Go Pro and now have a VhodR. The VhodR has a much better picture and better image stabilization. A little more money ($100) but the differences are well worth it and its easier to mount. Less bulk, smaller and lighter too. We like the rechargable battery that lasts 2 hours of record time. On/Off switch is easy to use with a glove on. We take it downhill Mtn biking and skiing as well. You can mount it to a goggle strap!

I'v owned a go pro helmet cam for the last year it rocks man the helmet adapters and 2 gig card and it is water proof for 100ft and it has 5 mega pixal camera with a 5 12 resolution with the fish eye lends.

vio sport pov 1. check it out! self contained, light weight, excellent sound and quality....

What he said.
6 hours of high quality recording on one stick.
Totally water proof, easy to use.
Has a remote control you can mount to your handle bars or where ever you want to turn on recording.

It is one of the more expensive helmet cams at 600 dollars.
Heres one I just threw together after a recent ride.

Another Option
