what year and model rev should I buy / stay away from?

I'm looking to buy an '03 - '06 summit rev. Is there a big difference from year to year? Need to know what year made the best rev. Weighing 160 lbs, would a 600 H.O. have enough power for climbing, or would i be wishing for an 800? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

2006 x is suppose to be the best. the 07`s are suppose to have bad cranks but a buddy of mine has been running one for 3 years with no problems. im not sure if you would be happy with the power of a 600 in the steep and deep.

rev sled

Look for the 06 rev summit x 800, the best they ever made in the rev chassis. They are more money, but they are worth it. They don't have some of the problems the others did. The only thing to check is the ecm pins and the wiring harness connector and move the ECM up under the console from over the pipe.

Hey, i have an 06 x rev for sale that is a smokin sled. It has all the "stuff"on it all ready. Let me know if your interested. All sleds have there issues but it has been said many times the 06 is the best year for the rev , i agree!. i weigh in around 180 all geared up and handle the sled no problem. i personally would not do a 600. I ride with two 07 revs and they both have new cranks, engines and put diffrent tracks on them. i need to move this sled so if you are interested i am open to offers.

The 07 crank issue.
Seems to me that the bad cranks should let go before a thou or so, if it has not then can be deemed one of the good ones....?

07 had CASE issues, not crank issues. The faulty cases caused the cranks to fail prematurely which would give the impression that the crank was the issue. Also they were known for the ex. vlaves breaking and also primary clutch issues. All these can be fixed for less than $350 if nothing has failed yet, did it to my 07before I installed the 860 kit.

The 07's can be a great deal because of the bad rap you can pick up one pretty cheap and doo all the updating and have a great sled for relatively cheap.

Just my .02

hey, thanks for replying to my post. About that rev you got. How many miles? What size track? Where are you located? How much are you asking? I dont really know what the 06's are worth.

Brandon_br33. Sled is a 159" with 2700 miles. Its got vent kit, air intake, slp package, hand guards, skid plate, anti stab kit. Excellent condition. I pickeded up a new xp and need the cash to help with the new one. I am asking $5000 but like i said i am open to offers. I am in Utah and willing to help with some of the delivery if necessary. Let me know what ya think. Email is chales@herriman.org

rev

thats a good deal.
i just picked one up in nov 6000.with an 08 engine,400 miles,2900 on the sled, brew oked the primary, engine was done at premeire power sports in idawho.
looks like you already took off the trencher track.

We have an 04 151 and a 06 144 X Wont be letting go of either one any time soon. Both have been good for us. The 06 does need to have the ECM moved, water from the head light drips right on it, didnt take 30 mins to fix :beer; Find an X package sled, better shocks and track. Dino

'06 was a great year...you don't have to have the X package...the Adrenaline was also a solid runner. Beware of the y-pipe bolts, they like to work themselves out. Nordlock washers will fix that though. Next best year was '05 IMHO.

07 REV XRS is the highest evolution of the species. Ti springs, light wieght race inspired components, premium shock calibration, and bada$$ color/graphics. I believe forum member ALT has one of these for sale currently.

A little off topic here but, Where do you guys relocate the ecm to?
(pics??) What are some warning signs if it is getting too hot. I am assuming that is what the problem is.

No pic here, but I relocated mine to the top of the oil tank. Water gets into the conection in the stock location. Coroded a couple of the pins in the ECM . Dino

I have two 06 summit x 800's and my only issues were ring failure. They both lost the topend two weeks apart, one at 2700 miles and the other at 2800 miles. Just something to think about when buying used, it's cheaper to replace them before thet go. As for being the best. Im pretty biased since I have two but my 159 will hang with or out do any stock sled and alot of mods. I have plenty of witnesses to prove it! Good luck on your search and enjoy the ride.......

1800snow.... what did it run you to put a new top end in? I guess if i was to buy a used sled i would want to be the one to put the new top end in it. i am trying to sell my 06 and would consider adjusting the sale price if i had to. If there is one thing i have learned about snowmobiles is they are a time bomb waiting to go off!!! I do agree with you on the 159... mine will hang with a majority of the sleds out there minus the turbos!!!
