What would you replace when putting in a new motor?

I am getting ready to drop one of Indy Dan's new long rod motors in my 09 D8 after the stock motor blew up. I am wondering, what I should make sure to replace while I have the motor out. I am planning on replacing the: reeds, throttle cable, front left motor mount. What do you all suggest? What am I forgetting? I am just trying to do whatever needs to be done while it's out.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I turned the oil injection up some even though the installation instructions said u didnt have to. I still put extra in the gas as well.castrol

Thanks!!

Thanks guys, great info! I will definitelt do filters, can't believe I missed those and the injector o rings. I guess replacing all the mounts sense too. Please keep any suggestions coming!
thanks again!

If you havent already, have Dan balance your primary clutch. You might consider a torque stop / push arm kit from Fire n Ice. Paul can walk ya through the install and set up. Maybe a good set of EGT's. I would update the grounding wires from the ecu plate to chassis and motor mount with quality wire & connectors. I posted a thread on this in the "Increasing Your IQ" thread HERE I would also spend some time sealing the air box and plenum in the hood. Keep all the moisture out of that beast. Take a look at your pull rope and replace with the good stuff if is worn at all. I like to use Water Wetter or a similar product in my coolant. You mentioned the front PTO side motor mount, I assume you also included the ARP bolt. Much needed. I would check/set up the TPS while your throttle bodies are on the bench. Do you have the throttle body boot bracket? Good idea. Ask Dan if you should double gasket your exhaust valves. Some of the older IQ's would make contact on the piston skirts.

Make sure to let us know how it runs. Good luck. EW

I have to agree 100% with replacing the injector O rings. The ones that seat the injectors to the rail often swell and wont seat properly or get nicked during assembly. Both of my last rebuilds i experienced these o rings leaking and the one time it didnt let go til during break in. Eric has some good points! Good luck with your new motor

Thanks

Thanks EricW and Saskrmk,
I did have Dan rebuild and balance the primary, I will work on the ground wires, pull rope, and other suggestions. Eric, by, ARP bolt, do you mean the front left motor mount bolt? I am replacing the bolt and the top and bottom rubber mounts. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions, you guys are awesome!!

YES!! A grade 9 bolt. This was an issue so Polaris went to a larger bolt in this location in 2010.

Answered your PM. THIS is the bolt you want for the front PTO side mount. Comes in a 5 pack so sell a couple to your buds who don't know theirs is broken right now. lol. EW
