What would be your first performance add on for a 2009 M8

I don't know why it is taking arctic cat so long to riase there M8 HP to 150 or better. Or are they going to release a new motor. They are falling behind in the HP race with ski-doo and Polaris. I like the inprovements they made in 09, a bit more Hp would also be nice.

Is the M-8 horsepower really an issue?
I don't recall the #s but tourque does the work, and isn't the tourque of the M-8 right up there if not above the other brands?

I just haven't seen it on the hill... The 08 stock M-8s seem to perform right with the other brands from what I have observed.

on my 08 build :
sw single/y/can, homemade intake sys, reeds, fuel control

going by manufactuers guesstimates i am hopeing to achive about 155 hp

pipe ,Y and can roughly 12hp
homemade intake and reeds 5hp

stock 146 hp

i am debating if head and porting is worth the 6 or so more hps for 1k$

its nothing special, just a mishmash of what is already out there.

its like the cutler,D&D,and timbersled set ups but i utilized OE parts and UNI filters and a home made manifold that fits over the intake boot. itemized out its probly not to far away from the cost of any of the 3 mentioned.
i am doing it to 2 sled , slightly different .
if i bought one off the shelf i think i would go with the cutler.
the thing of it is i wanted to use a skidplate and retain some of its streantgh and function insstead of hacking it up on the nose.
shop around on this forum , i pulled alot of pics from peeps that have done thier own modded style for ideas

Thanks for the info, i would like to find something for an air intake that still pulls cold air in, with the warm under hood air the best of both worlds. I don't care to drill my nose piece full of holes.

BDX intake

Do you have pic's or info on your home made intake. I am very interested in this, or what you have done.

ok, its not homemade but the kit was only $130. best $ i've spent---> BDX

once you gut the hood, the weight loss if pretty decent.

more power

The new D&D Power Shim Kit shoud help. Look up the Dyno chart under D&D or call Dale there. Pretty impressive results for about $400 .

first thing i'd do with a 2009 m8 is fill up the fuel tank and ride it. you seriously don't have to do a thing to that sled.. maybe a can. that powerclaw track is awesome!

The engines are the same as the 08 so I am going to run the clutch kit that RacinStation has for the 08 sleds. Worked awesome on my buddies sled so I will install the same.
