What would be your first performance add on for a 2009 M8

I am trying to get prepared for next winter, I ordered a 2009 sno pro M8. What is some of the best performance add on for the M8, without going into a turbo or noss. I am on a Tight budget of $1500.00 . Any info from riders who test rode these sleds. Or should I just leave it stock?

on my 08 i did exsaust intake for under/close to that. but had some pow pros already

I would at least gut the hood and engine compartment of all the insulation and get some vents in the critical places for proper cooling of the clutches and unwanted engine heat. Cost=$150-200

The stock skis are not as bad as most make them out to be, I'd stick with them.

If you didn't get the BOSS seat, get one!

Then if you want to add some ponies, do the SLP exhaust and intake.

If you still want more! Some porting on the 800 and you really wake it up! With some CPC goodies like - a fuely box, heads, port and the twins and you'll be givin those M1K's a fit with your little light weight 800!

I also ordered a new 09 M8 this year but all mine will have is a HPS can, Clutching setup from Racinstation, venting, and insulation removed from under the hood. With the price of fuel I am saving all my mod money so I can ride more often.

gutting the hood??

So what stuff do you strip off of the hood? foam?

Ya you can strip out all the insulation for some easy weight loss.[/QUOTE said:
After removing all of it, you should (I would) install some alum. heat shield tape in the areas of the hood and side panel that look like it would be close to the pipe and can. Just to make sure no melting happens when your on your side or rolling the sled over.

I would go with a SLP pipe set up, if I can aviod the boondocker box. Also who has a good clutch set up. As for the insulation I remove it from the hood. It would be nice if someone did a complete light weight hood package. EX: light, cut for stock guage, all vents installed, just put the light weight hood on your sled and go. Thanks for your input keep it coming every body has a good idea.

SLP pipe is good, but you'll want the bd box so you can tune the motor, I don't know how guys are getting along without a fuel box as we ran at 8k elev with this pipe and our plugs were scary white. Even if you kept the sled bone stock, a bd box would be of benefit to you.
RKT secondary conversion works really well, but note it is not a kit, you'll have to spend some time tuning it. I ran this on our 162"s and now have a cutler secondary conversion to throw into the mix. I found the stock compression setup works really well on the 153" sled (did play with the weight a little bit, but I do that anyway as they are never a true 73g. The Ti yellow primary spring is the shizzz if you are going to run like this.)

Honestly, I heard there were some changes to the 09 clutching so I wouldn't touch a thing until I rode it.
I picked up my 08 of which I never even started. I had ported cyls/head/pipe/clutching/airbox/bd box on it before it went into the trailer.
I ended up chasing my tail on tuning it as thing change as it breaks in. I'd recomend running it 100 miles and then putting your aftermarkets on.

Thats a good idea, i will ride for 100 miles and decide from there. As this should come from factory fine tuned. They have been making the M8 long enough to have all the bugs worked out. But the wind shield has to go, i think a wind shield in orange and black would look better.

Will the Y pipe add on bring the M8 up to 150 hp?

Y pipe on an M8 will not get you 150, it is questionable as an improvement (on its own). testing Y's on the 8 showed no difference whatsoever in REAL world conditions.

An M8 does very well with the RKT head, the sw & slp pipes both do well without a box, and a clutch kit is a very good add.

Enjoy the 09, I hear the stickers are sweet!!!!!!;)
I ordered mine months ago & still can't decide if I should have ordered an 8 instead of the 1000!

M8M&M, after seeing the supreme secondary in person finally, I definately am considering their valves for my 09. They seem like a solid product & if they're made to the same quality, they should be pretty solid.
