what would a guy do with a stolen rhino?

my dads and 2 others where stolen last night from the dealer. it was there for 1 day and he went to pick it up today and they couldn't find it. they cut the fence and took them. so what do you guys think they would do with them. i don't think they would part them out. not much call for rhino parts i wouldn't think. i think it would be pretty tough to sell them as a whole, no title no registration? my guess is they joy ride them and dumped them some where. what do you guys think.

hopefully drive them off a cliff and die!

More likely have some private property they will take them to and never be seen again

least the dealer will be given you some new ones...right?

i sure hope so because at least one of the guys didn't have insurance. my dads insurance said they will contact the dealer to see if they had insurance for that kind of thing. apparently they left the keys in them. there was a forth one they tried to get but it was missing a clutch.

Most likely a bunch of joyriders, It's the usual use for stolen recreational vehicles in MN since they are almost as well registered as cars there.

We had a rash of it around Emily (sleds stolen) when I was in my teens and most were found in the area. They would go out steal 4-5 sleds from the bar or people's garages when they were gone and ride them til they were out of gas and then leave them where they ran out. This happened every weekend for about a month and a half for 2 seasons then it stopped. Everyone knew who it was by the time it stopped but the cops couldn't pin it on them.

Was it at Brothers? If so kinda ballsy to steal from the dealer smack dab in the middle of town.

it was brothers. you won't believe this but brothers are saying it happened around noon today. mechanic said they were there this morning. another mechanic test drove a sled just before noon and the rhino tracks run right over his sled tracks. they crossed a road behind brothers and there was still alot of snow from the machines crossing the road. we tracked them alittle farther and they got on the road and we couldn't track them anymore.

my guess would be the joyride option, or like others said, bring em to somebodies private land, dont use em for a while, then they are as good as theres.

Well here my father inlaw bought a sled for cheap but it was missing some parts. I didn't think anything of it 11 year old sled missing some parts, so i go on the net and get the parts. In the mean time he goes to the dealer cause he realizes the guy didn't give him the key and he won't answer his phone. The dealer said they had a sled like that stolen from them here it comes out to be the sled the father inlaw bought. Dirty slim bags.

WOW That's Ballsy! but then again in the temps you guys have had (people not just hanging around outside) and with machnes running around there like bee's on a normal day nobody would probably notice a couple guys just hopping on them and driving them away.

update
they found one today. it was at a car dealer about 40 miles south. it was traded in on a car and the dealer had it on craigs list. the yamaha dealer seen it on craigs list and checked it out and the vin matched so he took it. this is where the **** gets deep the cops don't want nothing to do with the situation. this could be tracked down very easy i would think and find the other 2.

How do you trade a vehicle you don't have the title to?

Sounds like a shady used car lot maybe?

I dont know about your state but here 4 wheelers, rhinos, gators etc. have NO title. They are BOS (Bill of Sale) vehicles only. You buy a new one and dealer will provide the MSO and our local DMV wont even turn it to a title. Same with sleds. So easy, if you want to trade it and have a valid drivers license we would take down the vin your license and put it in the deal jacket. Sux for the dealer as he will most likely lose the property that he RIGHTFULLY traded for.

So my guess is quick sale for drug cash was there motive.

*a bit baffled why the law wont pursue??? more to story I am sure.....did it cross state line?

Do ATV's in MN have titles? I'm guessing good ol' Dave knows more than he's telling. Title or not, I still don't see how you trade a vehicle for another vehicle and there not be anyway to track down who did the trading.

You would think they would be all over that would be simple to track down the guy with a trail of paperwork. there has to be some restitution to both dealers doesn't there. A crime has been committed arnt they sworn to uphold the law
