What will it take before you change brands

So a bit of update , took my clutches apart to install a aftermarket clutch kit ,and found 2 of the outer rollers on the spider with melted roller material ,dealer who has been awesome started a case file with brp. And replaced all of the rollers . Used a digital heat gun and got around 142 degrees Celsius,so is it unreasonable to be a little pissed ? On the upside the new setup is running very nicely ,no black streaks much cooler , not perfect but am quite pleased with it.

2018 Cat

Show me a sled that is

-as fun as the 850

-powerful as the 850

-4 year warranty

-great dealer in my area

-as easy to handle as the 850

-holds its value like the 850

... then I will consider switching...

Ace

Cats check list
1- check this new chassis is really fun & handles terrain great
2- Check it jumps the 850 out of the hole by 1-1.5 sled lengths and pulls hard all the way to the top right with the 850. This was only in 1-2' of snow we'll see in 4'+ snow
3- I always go for 1 year factory warranty knocks $500-$750 off & pretty much covers the cost of 2nd party warranty. Dealer really sticks up for you and gets your issues fixed under warranty. No bad blood between BRP & Dealer. Plus they get a $piff off it not much room for dealers to make money on new sleds thies days.
4- NO we have no cat dealer within 50mi of Bend. Only dealer close is just just an embarrassment to the sport.
5- Check
6- Haha no cats prices drop worse then a led balloon

That's it I'm sticking with Doo thanks a lot for ruining the grass on the other side of the fence!:Cry:

So what will it take for you change to any brand other than doo. I am getting close . Rode skidoo since our first 69 Olympic,1 yami around 94 and summits since .current sled 18 165 , like the chassis but the clutch heat,oil/fuel consumption, clutch calibration totally sucks . Spent quite a bit of time talking to the brp rep at the spring show and was assured all was fixed for my 18 . Last sled 15 xm 174 with a872 and some other goodies ,way better on fuel ,oil ,belts ,clutching . Not sure which brand I would choose but am getting really tired of brp’s attitude towards their customers and the idea that we have to do their r&d for 2 or 3 years before they sell us a well calibrated sled .

I was teetering pretty close to the edge as well...Love the 850 but last time out the end of the crank split into a few too many pieces to hold on to the primary. When getting tore down the dealer called asking if I used BRP oil. Said they were trying to figure out what the deal is with all the moisture in the engine (only doo oil goes into it). Not sure about how all the clearances worked out but they decided to check out a new engine.

I was worried after we lost our local dealer where I bought it that I wouldn't have the best representation from a dealer but Mondak Sports in Williston, ND really stepped up and was great to work with. Very happy that Ski Doo backed up their product. Will be a lot harder now to switch to a new Artic Cat...

Well.
Heading up there for a full week of riding.
If you're right, then I should blow belts on both of the 850s I am taking along for the very first time.
You can still not blow belts up there, its really easy to make them live a long time. Im just saying it seems to be easier to blow them up there given the terrain/elevation/snow conditions.

The issue is really prominent with younger more aggressive riders who just dont stop to let the sleds cool down. There are certain temp thresholds which seem to basically guarantee belt failure, but if you stop/rest//get stuck/ride easily mixed enough with aggressive WOT they stay below and belts last alright.

Just so we are clear here.
I walked into a retail dealer, Rexburg Motor Sports, and bought my sleds RETAIL just like every other joe here...

That said, YES, I absolutely have a direct phone line to BRP and I DO call/message them from time to time when things crop up here on the forums, but that doesn't get me any "Special" treatment.

I upgrade and mod my sleds exactly the same as you do.
I buy my gas, oil and belts just like you do.
I buy my accessories and bolt them on just like you do.

Don't confuse "ME" with the guys that work at the Magazine.
We are two completely SEPARATE entities.

They are under strict Non Disclosure Agreements with all the manufacturers and as a result get a ton of inside info, advance knowledge and test products.

I do NOT participate in any of that.
I could, but I have chosen NOT TO so that I can honestly participate here on the forums and interact with everyone as I do.

As for the Yamahas..
With all due respect, I will disagree with you.
While they were WILDLY difference than my 850s, I would not call them a POS. Those sleds do what they do VERY WELL.

When it comes to hard core vertical climbing there is NOTHING on the market that could keep up with my 275HP Turbo Viper. When the snow was good, that sled was a JOY TO RIDE.

But for me, the reality is, most of the time down here in SE Idaho the snow was NOT good enough to make that a "FUN" sled for me at 55 to ride. I found the 850 to be far better suited to the kind of riding I found myself doing on most weekends.

But as I head back up to Pemberton and Revy in a couple weeks for what should be some truly EPIC mountain riding, those Yamahas would be right at home.

I didn't mean to dig so deep, was kinda making a point, but I can stop this argument right here:
If you can post here on the forum, receipts that you paid full retail MSRP for your last 5?x 850 sleds that you have purchased in the last 2 years as you have stated, then I will send you a $100 bill in the mail. And apologize profusely. Otherwise, I call bull****. Post it, I will mail the money.
If not, then I can assume that other statements that you have made are less than accurate regarding any special treatment that you may receive from manufacturers for pimping their sleds.

^^^^ Jealous LOSER^^^^

The snowmobile industry is a very hard industry to make a living at. From what I have learned from meeting a bunch of these people who do make it their sole income are willing to pitch anything someone will pay them to pitch. That being said I take their opinion on stuff with a grain of salt if they are currently running it or they designed something themselves. There is a lot of stuff I consider garbage out there that guys hype on this forum. If people ask my opinion on something I'm not afraid to give it but I don't feel it's my duty to post on the forums giving horrible reviews on stuff. I have stated it before. If you want honest opinions on stuff find guys who don't care about being sponsored and can just buy whatever they want. I know this comes off as probably arrogant but I buy so much crap for my sleds that I see online. Usually 2 of everything and I have stuff I don't even end up putting on my sleds. I have tried about everything there possibly is on my 850's and I have paid full retail for everything. You are ten times better off running into a random guy on the mountain for an opinion than asking it on this forum. And unfortunately some stuff you never see in person so you never get to try it. I try to let anyone that asks ride my sleds on the mountain so they can actually try something because some stuff you only see on Pro's sleds or in magazines. Furthermore some of these companies are so painful to deal with I would never run their stuff just because of dealing with them no matter how good it is. There is also is the complete opposite of the spectrum of guys that stand behind their stuff and are awesome to deal with. Those are the vendors I will always keep going back to. I swear most people on this forum have a hidden agenda so I just use it more as entertainment than a deciding factor on what to buy.

In all fairness, I have not heard of anyone paying full msrp for a sled since. The 1996 MXZ 583.

I rode with 2 Artic Cats (new) 3 turbo Polaris all new and 3 850's 2 weekends ago. Where we went there was a ton of sleds but we somehow found a lot of untouched in the trees. Every single sled got there and we all had smiles.

I think all the sleds are good. I was more referring to all the aftermarket stuff that you can put on all of them. I only ride Ski-Doo because my favorite color is yellow:face-icon-small-coo
