What to put under my tool box??

Hey,
Just got a 'new to me' D-Max and am swapping my tool box from my other truck. Just wanted to get ideas on what I could put between the top of the bed and box to keep it from jackin the paint up. Eventually will do a spray liner but have too many other things that need done first. Thanks.

Some wide weatherstriping foam is something that I have use in the past that works pretty well because you can stick it to the bottom edges of the toolbox. I have also seen some guys glue some thin carpet pad underneath it as well (looked kind of ugly, but it works). I have always just went to Ace or Cal-Ranch and bought the weatherstriping (just make sure it isn't really thick). I've never scratched the paint and it turns out well. Just my thoughts though.

I used a rubber unloading belt off a potato bed as a spacer. I had chrome bed caps and didn't want it rubbing.

If you have a semi dealer by you get the tank strap rubber. I know Mack has it, I have installed enough on Macks. It would be a perfect width and has double sided tape on one side.

Thanks. I think I actually have a chunk of my old rubber truck bed mat and some weather stripping from 'sealing up the Poo engineering'. My bed is definitely not in A++ shape but I hate the thought of metal-against-metal stuff. I'll give it a try.
