I have the 800 and regularly ride with a couple of 1000's. In my opinion no one under 220 lbs should consider the 1000. They both run strong and depending on snow conditions, they will trade highmarks and neither is ever dominate over the other. The 800 is a little better about getting back on top of the snow than the 1000 when boondocking. In real deep snow, the 1000 will climb a little better because it seems to keep in contact with the snow a little better. Usually a few hours after the sun comes out the 800 will start nudging the 1000 out again. I think the difference is the heavier 1000 is a little more predictable in the bumps on the hill, the 800 is more likely to get airborne and loose momentum. When the snow firms up a little, the 800 is able to recover from a momentum loss.
