What skis to use this year?

I have a 2009 M8 with a PG Boondocker setup. Have an EZ Ryde in there and am running the stock 162 track. Looking to upgrade the skis. We ride at 10,000 plus powder in the trees and then of course the climbs we encounter along the way. Whats your take on whos skis work on this M8.

I hear used, white, C&A pro XT's are the ticket this year... you just happen to be in luck... I've got a pair I'll sell you!! :D :D

simmons gen 1's

I happen to have a pair with less than 500 miles- grey loops in skis section-
if they sell going to try the gen 3's

X2 for simmons gen 1. and I also just happen to have a set to sell you :)

I thought he said gen III's, If I where to get some it would be the Gen III the gen I suck. I loved the Gen II's but its a lot more ski than you need on a m8, but they work great in the tree's. The Gen III's look sweet.

What sucks about simmons gen 1? I know of several people running them on M-Sleds including myself that have had great luck with them. Tried the gen 2 and they take away from the whole idea of the M chassis and gen 3 are basically going to do the same thing. Only need for a ski like that would maybe be on a 1000 or a Yamaha.

Have you tried anything else, they dart and dive, once you figure out how to use the gen II they are the best ski in the trees in my opinion, (you have to get used to them and figure out how they work or you will never like them, took me a month) The Gen III are completely different, they are only 8" wide (not 10") and the carbides are a lot closer together, I've been saying for 2 years a 8" wide ski with a deep keel would be the best and this is the closest thing yet. Keeps the sled from diving in tree holes and keeps the front of the sled on top when carving/sidehilling with less drag. The Gen skis are also a lot smoother on harsh bumps.

i am looking to upgrade also, what about the new slydog 8", anyone ever tried them or are they too new for reviews

Caleb your a funny one. Thanks Hatchers for the link. I gues frisco guys dont like redundant questions. I have read alot of posts and am looking for Turbo M8 input. What do ya ride caleb? If those C&As dont work on that 1000 of yours they might work on an m8. I love my simmons on my edge but hated them on my mod sled. I lost my great payin job so trial and error hurts a little more now days. Thanks to all that chimed in and all the pms

Tried stock arctic cat, HCR, simmons Gen 1 and gen 2, and powder pros. Liked the gen 1 just fine. I like to be able to dig my ski in when I want and the gen 2s wouldn't do that. But I i prefer the stock HCR ski to everything.

the gen 1's are some of the best skis out there

I love my gen 1's, that is why I want to try the gen 3's if i don't like the gen 3's I would definitely go back to the gen 1's

You might try some stocker poo skis if you can find them cheap. I heard AC has a little wider deeper keel ski but have seen any yet, not sure but I think its the HCR ski, the AC skis seem to be the lightest. I thinks skis depend on rider style.

Bah... I live in dumont... that's on the front range just like you!!!:face-icon-small-dis

Personally, I hate simmons, C&A & any other overly wide ski on an M chassis... completely defeats the idea of why I, at least, but M sleds. I've go a 141 1000 & a RG turbo 8.
Neither of those really need skis though, they only touch when parked...:face-icon-small-coo

Stock, PP, HCR, narrow S-dogs... any of those work great for sidehilling.
