What RPMs should a MM700 with Bender Can Run?

I put a Bender can on my son's 97MM700. What RPM should I clutch the engine to spin?

I see in the Yamaha manual that the stock RPM target range is 8050 to 8550.

Yet, I thought I read in the Yamaha technical update manual that the shift RPM target was 8,300 RPM?

I spoke to Bender racing this past summer and he said the 97 models made roughly 7 hp with their 97 Bender can. The later models did not show an increase in hp with their cans. Why? I bought the one I have used so I have no idea if it's a 97 Bender can or a later model.

The bottom line is, do I want to spin the engine with a Bender can at whatever the appropriate RPM the stock pipe is to be run at or should the RPMs be increased slightly with a Bender can?

Thanks

If I were you I would try to find a set of SLP triple pipes. Not as loud as the Benders and the only way to be really happy with the MM700 engine........25+ HP.

Thank you guys. This sled is for my greenhorn 13 year old son. He isn't experienced enough for triples YET. I'm sure that day will come.

So, 8,500-8,550 RPM will be my target for the trail and I guess I'll hope to only drop drop to 8,300ish while climbing?
