I know most people are most likely going to run polaris gold however have heard over the last few years from some good engine builders that the full synthic is not the best for your motor. I have ran injex in all my sleds to this point just trying to decide what to try in my new 8.
Thanks Darren

I am. I believe you should run what you will be running long term. Polaris wants to scare you into using their oil, for one reason $$$$$$$$$$$. As long as you have a good dealer, you shouldn't have any warranty issue, as long as you are using a quality oil.

I too am familiar with this. I am running Valvoline 2-stroke oil that I get from Napa as soon as the break-in oil is gone. I'm OK with cleaning my exhaust valves a little more often for the sake of my engine living longer. Just my opinion.

Redline here for the new Pro. Ran Amsoil Dominator on all previous sleds with zero issues. They all seem to be the same price.

AMS Interceptor. I've used that on the last three sleds I had and no burn down issues. I agree that Polaris wants us to use their oil by threatening warranty restrictions. I would use it if it weren't $40 a gallon versus $28 for AMS. I use AMS for my Duramax and girlfriends gasser as well as my 4-stroke dirt bike, quad and old R6.

I've got 5 gallons of Torco 2 stroke injection oil. it was on sale late last spring at my local yamaha/honda dealership

Redline?

Which Redline - 2 cycle snowmobile or smokeless or all sport or racing. I am thinking 2 cycle snowmobile - correct?

I saw on slp's site they actually recommend running the Redline Two Stroke Racing Oil on the 800 cfi. Anyone run the race and the snowmobile to know if there is any real difference?

Un-biased oil recommendations

I totally agree. I would rather have to clean my exhaust valves 3 times as much if I knew the oil I was using gave better protection to my motor. Especially with all the motors I have seen that look to be short on upper cylinder lubrication.

I cannot believe with all the side-by-side comparisons on snowmobiles, etc- that there has not been an independent test done on snowmobile oil and which one provides the best; protection, clean burn, $, etc!?!?

Redline I have heard is a highly recommended oil but these recommendations seem to be coming from the aftermarket company that sells it?

I would like to see two motors, both with 4,000 miles on them with the same running conditions tested on redline vs VES gold or another "recommended" oil and see what conditions/protection there is.

Blue Marble here... Ran it in mods, race sled, my D7, the 200 opti on the boat and the assault with no issues:)

Agreed, its a great oil for sleds, bikes, boats, and whatever else.
Tore down my engine first season on amsoil and it had average wear.
Only change next season was the oil to blue marble, rode it all season, tore it down, and basically no wear, never even changed the rings.
Turbo charged M800.

I've been running redline race for many years, rebuilt my 7000 mile 800 poo carbed engine this year, pistons and jugs looked great. problem is the stuff is over $60 a gallon.

Now you hear people running citgo sea and snow for $12 a gal. and never have a issue, so who the hell knows.

Whats anyone know about citgo sea and snow??

I'm thinking of changing oils this year, the race is getting evpensive.

whats the regular redline oil cost a gal, the snowmobile oil, not the race.
