What Nytro clutch weight for 9000'+

How much weight are you taking off to get rpm's up. I've got 8 hard days on the sled and the engine is really loosening up but I'm still only getting about 8000 rpm on the trail and 7700ish in the pow.

a few hundo more

I'm getting 8150-8300 pulling hard in the pow and I've seen it hit 9000 when on the trail/flats but I'm hoping it'll loosen up some more before I take it in for the 500 mile checkup/update/oil change so that we can get it dialed at that point.

I'd like to turn a few more RPM's in both situations, but considering the fact that I've only got 130 miles on the Nytro, I'm sure it'll continue to loosen up.

I'm riding at or above 9000 ft when getting these #'s, probably closer to 10000 ft.

I'm wondering what these numbers SHOULD be...

Frisco - if I remember correctly - you bought your sled out of Castle Rock? If so - they have a clutching update for the Nytro for free :) I'm dropping mine off this afternoon.

They have weights ordered that are coming in sometime next week that they are going to grind down for us. Looks like we have snow coming in this weekend and I'm a little impatient to wait so looking to drill a gram or two out of mine.

is the clutching update though a yamaha dealer ship and does it go for all yamaha dealer ships

That I don't know - I sort of doubt it since the owner of the shop apparently did a bunch of testing and found a better set up they are offering to install in the sleds they sold.

Frisco - I hear the snow heading in - unfortunately for me, I have to head east on business for a week then west for a week. I won't be getting back on mine for at least 2-1/2 weeks so they can have it in the mean time :)

I bought a kit from Dustin @ Outlaw. He did extensive testing also. He ground out the heel of the stock weights and stiffened up the primary & secondary spring. I also geared down to a 19 top, tightened the secondary to 90 degrees and installed the Shockwave adjustable helix.

The changes helped greatly, however, the sled is still a big disappointment in the climbing, deep powder boondocking department.

With the stock set-up, I could hit 8800 on the trail/hard pack but only 7800 on a powder climb. With the new set-up this weekend in some DEEP powder, I could hit 9000-9100 on the trail and about 8400-8600 on the powder. Still not enough. I had this thing stuck more times this weekend then I did in 5 years with my Vertical Escape.

Couple of problems I see: The maverick track is pure JUNK! It's too soft and it is not long enough. Turned around helps some but I'm still not happy with this track. Also, needs more power. You need the power to spin the track to both gain and maintain flotation. Machine trenches very badly....and yes, I have tried several different skid adjustments. The stock set-up works best.

I believe boost, in addition to a longer track, will help greatly. However, due to the cost ($10,000 when all said and done), I'm now questioning my purchase and the direction I want to move forward.

Bottom line.....I'm a bit frustrated with it right now!!!! Doesn't do what I want it to do in certain situations....some yes, but not all. BTW, it is still one of the best handling sleds I have ever ridden!
