What Non-Ethanol Fuel Are You BC Riders Using?

I've been running Chevron 94 since day one.

After talking to a few guys on PRO's they think that's overkill and that I'm just wasting money. :face-icon-small-dis

Some of the guys are running Petro-Can 91 with the non-ethanol plug and seem happy.

What fuel are you guys running with the non-ethanol plug?

Chevron 94 for me..... The following statement IMO
We spend a ton of money on these machines. Fuel is no place to cheap out. Yes you can get a way with lower than 94 but make sure it is ethanol free. Most mid grade fuels are a mix of higher and lower octane fuel. Chevron 94 is a cleaner fuel and more stable. Really what is the cost difference? A stock PRO engine isn't a high compression engine and doesn't need that high of octane. Our neighbors to the south in most cases don't have access to 94 anyway. For me its 94 ......Cleaner fuel and doesn't cut into the beer budget all that much

Esso 91 non-eth. Says so on the pump. Petro Can has eth. Says so on the pump (and at the head office).

I tested the fuels around here last year (things change though). Esso was the only one that passed my isopropyl and mixed oil test (didn't drop out the ethanol-water waste). Chevron 94 didn't pass for me either.
You have to remember though, if it has eth but not over 5%, they can leave the sticker off the pump.

That said, I found my '13 made more power (when stock) in the eth mode. No det in either mode just felt stronger. I also had it running around 8000r's then too.

fuel

chevron 94 in all my sleds,my buddy says im wasteing my money, dont agree ,that first few litres in the hose is 87 plus fuel degrades from the day its born so it is 91 or less +a few litres of 87 =less than what i want to run in my sleds

Shell Gold whenever it's available. My sled has the PAR 13.1:1 head. Runs great on Shell Gold 91, but runs like crap on Petro 91. When I ride in Blue River and fuel up at Petro, I add a few liters of 114, then the sled runs great.

Sent from my iPad when I should be sledding.

Chevron 94 is on a dedicated hose. So the first few litres would not be anything different.
If your worried about that, all the rest use mixing pumps.
They have two tanks 91 and 87 if you purchase 89 it mixes the two and averages down.

I've read max 1-2 liters of fuel in hose. I guess depends on hose from top or a hose that has a large loop and the reel that hose is over twice as long as some. I usually fill my sled before my spare can and if I have my gas truck I put a couple liters in to my truck prior to filling sled and can. But I try to use shell premium at all times unless I can't.

Shell gold or esso 91....actually I get my 91 from a wholesale club/superstore gas bar that I know is supplied with non-eth 91 from imperial oil (esso). It's a little cheaper there and I know what the fuel is cause I used to own the place lol

Shell 91.

Only place I've found that advertises non-ethanol on their pumps. I also always throw in 2-3 bucks in my truck to drain the lines since they are mixed.

Shell Gold 91 always.I never have trouble finding it around here and its advertised as non ethanol. I don't worry about the 1-2l in the hose as my sled is usually bone dry anyway and takes all 43 litres

Bone dry every time ?? Do you have very good friends that tow you back and help manually load your sled every trip ? I'd tell you to start packing extra fuel or drag your sled on the trailer yourself.

usually any of the 3 chev 94, esso 91 (marine at the bon voyage) or husky 94 (marked non ethanol) on the hart.
those are the 3 i use have been using the 91 esso marine for years but cycle north say not to use anything with dye or they wont warranty it.

Last weekend all 3 of us over did it and ran out even with extra fuel.we made it back to the main trail and finally found a great guy who gave us his extra 10 l and we all barely made it back.79.4 miles on my pro that day I was out at 65.5 miles.ride before 73.4 miles and it took 43l of shell gold. I ride hard especially with fresh pow and bluebird

BC Fuel

I have a 2011 Pro and when it was bone stock i ran the Petro Can 91 octane with the non ethanol plug. I put a stage 3 SLP kit on it and with the same fuel set up I couldn't get it to run over 7000 rpm without shutting down. I talked to my mechanic and he said there is no fuel in BC anymore that doesn't have some sort of additive in it. So now I put about 1 gallon of C16 race fuel in a tank full and it runs perfect (you could get the same results with C12 but I like the good stuff). My mechanic (Dr. John) says that if I run a bit of race fuel that I can burn any fuel I want and it won't bother the sled. It's a little added cost and a bit more of a pain in the butt compared to pulling up to the pump and filling it up but the sled runs perfect and it cures all of the ****ty fuel we have in BC these days.
