I have an 07 M8 162", I haven't put very many miles on it yet and have only made a few mods. I mostly ride up at Island Park and prefer boondocking to climbing, but still need to be able to climb well enough to keep up with my group while exploring the backcountry. So far all I have done is Fastlane floorboards and vents, Handlebar riser, Ice scratchers, SLP can, extra hood latches. I put in a gold primary spring at the end of the season and haven't ridden with it yet. I still have the 68 gr. primary weights in. As everyone else, I have a limited budget and sledding is only one of my hobbies to spend money on, so I am modding slowly. I have a list of things which I think I want to do from reading the posts on here, my question is, in what order should I do these? I will probably only be able to do a few mods each season for now, and selling my sled and buying a new one isn't going for work right now. So this is kind of the order I was thinking of, but if there is something lower on the list that should be done first, something I'm missing or something on here that is a waste of money, please let me know. Thanks for any input. I'm also considering price when I factor in the order.

- Shift assist
- Y-pipe (Which one?)
- Maybe some cutlers adjustable weights, but I have to see what the Gold spring does for me first.
- 09 bumper mod or VE or Black Diamond.
- Boss Seat or 2010 AC seat
- Powder Pro skis
- Power Claw track
- ???

My opinion, if you are big into boondocking go for the power claw track first. That is an outstanding track for playing around in the tree's and for climbing too. As for the seat, boss is a bit lighter but i like my 2010 AC seat more than my old Boss, more storage, feels better and looks better, plus its cheaper.

$26.00 with shipping, and you use your stock wheels.

by the time u spend all that money u could have a 09 get it clutched right slp setup the tunnel is a waste 2010 seat is bad a$$ but u dont need it to boondock it is what it is ride it its a good sled

Go to your AC dealer and order part # 4639-995 . It costs 62.95 and dumps 1.7 lbs off of the front end. It is a lightweight front axle kit , and is not to bad to install.

After that i would dump reverse and get BDX DD Lite for a 12 lb weight loss.

So between those 2 you would dump almost 14 lbs off of your rig . That will feel nice in the trees going slow.

But then again the new track is really good , it works 10 times better than the stock track in the deep.

Get the track and the front and kit , and than save for the DD Lite.:beer;

You just replace the stock bushings with lightweight bushings. There's really no reason for pics. Took me a little over an hr to replace all the bushings and I took my time. I like wrenching on the sled :D

So what's the verdict on the Y-Pipe. With the stock pipe, will the Y-pipe help at all?

Thanks for the advice so far. Seems like the power claw should be higher on my list.

Get rid of those 68 gram weights and run 70-72 gram weights. It will pull harder and climb higher. I would than install a powerclaw track and call it good.

You need to go ridding with us sounds like we have the same ridding style check out the way we have our sleds setup for alot less $$ than what you are talking about and will work lots better . I would start with gearing it down then add more weight to the clutch .

1st. PowerClaw
2nd. slp full exhaust
those are the biggest gains the track is worth saving for!!
for boondocking the tunnel makes a huge difference with a 2 wheel kit the 09 m is the first 162 I've been able to do switchbacks up a steep hill to make the top.
and the sled never stops and nearly impossible to get stuck compared to yours.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. Anything that will make getting stuck less likely is worth it to me. I'm not too worried about saving a couple of pounds, I could loose 10 pounds off my waist for alot less money. I'm thinking I need a bit heavier clutch weights, but I haven't ridden it with the Gold spring yet, so I was going to wait until I've ridden this year to decide what weights to get. I was thinking of getting the Cuttlers, but may just buy some AC weight around 70-71 grams. Any drawbacks to the Two Wheel Kit? Anyone put it on and then regret it?
