what laptop to get?

Our company went from NEC to Dell (Latitudes) to Lenovo (T series).

Lenovo's are by far the most reliable of the 3, and excellent warranty and service support too. Metal (magnesium)cases, nice keyboard feel, real hinges and you can downgrade to XP.
I'd buy one for personal use anytime.

You couldn't give me a lenovo to be used for anything other than a boat anchor.... Especially with all the CRAP software they put on there...

We have had good luck with the HP business laptops as of lately (2 years). Before that it was Dell's... We still run XP pro....

If you wait until this Sunday Best Buy will have a Dell with pretty good specs for $450 (Intel Dual Core, 3GB Ram, 160Gb hard drive, 15.6" screen, DVD burner, 8 in 1 media reader, Wi-Fi, Vista Home Premium). The netbooks are kinda neat but I hated typing on the small 2/3 size keyboard, plus you cant use it to watch DVD's unless you rip it first into a digital format or get and external DVD (no optical drive built in). Any new Pc or laptop comes loaded with bloatware, it's not limited to one brand. The simple fix is to do a clean install the operating system right out of the box. If you are intimidated by the idea of re-loading drivers and what not you can download and run a program called PCDecrapifier that does what it sounds like - removes alot of the crap that comes preloaded. Just google it, it's free to downlaod and easy to use.
