What kind of truck exhaust?

I am trying to decide what kind of system and what brand I should get for my 1998 silverado(5.7). I am looking at cherry bomb,flowmaster,and magnaflow. You guys have any advice? Thanks...

with the 5.7 no matter what brand of muffler you decide to get make sure you get a true dual exhaust put on it. Those engines sound like **** with a Y pipe cat back. I would go with the flowmaster super 40's with a 3 inch true dual exhaust. But if you just want it loud do a true dual system with no mufflers....:beer;

Magnaflow is a lot quieter in the cab if u do much interstate driving/pulling but otherwise flowmaster and magnaflow are built very similar from wat I have seen and heard. They both sound similar outside, I think magnaflow is a little deeper but have never compared the exact same setup. To save a little money and still sounds really good, go "true duals" with one muffler. I have a magnaflow on my 6.0 with true 3 inch and 4.5" tips sounds awesome. Not real loud in the cab but it makes a nice deep rumble outside.

I have a four inch exhaust on my diesel. I went with stainless steel for not alot more money then buying it aluminized. Should last longer too. Mine is welded in place on the truck. plowking

Have you done youtube searchs to get an idea of what it'll sound like??

Dynomax Bullet is what I would do.. in place of the stock muffler or run straight pipes with no muffler at all, or run it with two Bullets. imo.

Cherry Bomb would be second and Flowmaster would be third..

To bad my 4L dont sound like a 5.7..:(

true duals huh? ,now I have to decide if I want to buy this truck exhaust or start saving for my ZR 800....thanks for the info guys.

Honeslty buddy...i'd buy a cheap $40 glass-pack (or whatever), and save those shillings for a bigger sled!!

i bought my glass-pack at Napa two years ago...and nothing was gone bad with the muffler, still looks brand new. :)

Ya, I have heard good and bad from using glass packs. I will probably end up not doing anything and just saving for a sled but I sure want my truck to sound good.:beer;

I'v got the same pickup with Edelbrock headers true dual with no mufflers, just the two converters (for now). it's 45'd out the back an its not real loud in the cab. plenty loud if you get on it tho, an if I work the motor pullin something she really barks:D,

What year is your 6.0, i have an 06 2500 hd 6.0. With your 4.5 inch tips do you have them comming out the corners or strait out of the back? The place that did my exhaust said they cant run it strait out hte back because of the frame and trailer hitch.Which sucks because it really limited me on the type of tips i could get. I have 3 inch true duals with flowmaster super 40s. Loud as ****k. I used to have a magnaflow 2 in 2 out though too. Also to ZL50068, dont put glass packs on your truck thats just a waste of money you would be better off just running no mufflers that wasy you can save money by not buying any mufflers.:beer;:beer;:beer;

It will sound cooler too! :cool:

Wish i could straight pipe my Jeep but, these 4.0s sound like crap if there straight piped! grrrrr:mad: but, im ditching the 'pack and installing something different..i wanna different sound! :)

the dynomax cat back kits sound good without being to loud---

however theres a cheaper way also -- just use the dynomax 3" muffler and make up a custom 3" tail pipe basically in the stock location ,, better flow and more tone !!!

all the others do sound great too !!! but usually are bit too loud after a while !!!

I've had a few (3) of these trucks... My '89 S-10 350 has true 2.5 inch duals with a H pipe, and red devil bottles, and it sounds like a right proper down home grain truck.... Not saying it sounds bad or anything, but, you get the idea. My '91 Z-71 had Hooker headers and 3" duals, and sounded okay, but there was too much pipe there, and it sounded hollow, in my opinion.

My '92 Z-71 had 2.5 inch duals behind Heddman headers, with Flowmaster 40s, and sounded AMAZING. Best sounding pickup i've owned, besides my '98 Cummins. Really wakes 'em up, too. Good luck, and keep us posted!
