What is your 2008 XP 800r clutch setup?

I have an 08XP 800r. My stock setup was

a Purple/Purple spring, 21-tooth driver, and 13.8gram weights. My clickers were set at 2.

I blew up a 166 belt in the first 46 miles.

The Dealer changed my sled to

a Green / Purple spring, 19-tooth driver, and 16.5gram weights. My clickers usually are at 4 now, but could go to a 5.

My elevation is typically (snopark 2500ft) to )5500 feet riding)

What is your XP setup?

i'am running the belt burner set up on my o9. you know where you run your clutches out of a line and pulls the cords out or they get so hot it peels the top of the belt off. also if you put shipping oil on your clutches it works real good like cruise control, let off the gas and the arms stay out and you go down the trail at 20 mph.

The clutching is great now.

414 ramps, blue/yellow spring (130/230), 12mm + 10mm + 4mm set screws, clicker 2 and sometimes 3 max. (about 16.35 grams with pins and set screws)

I have a 13:1 SLP head and may allow me to pull a bit more weight.

Leave the ramps to last as they are about $100 and you may be happy enough with the spring and weights.

The 414's help with upshift at trail speeds to lower rpms. Not sitting at high rpms all the time.

I am finding that with the stock 413 ramps or the 414, lower clicker is better as the top of the ramp is too steep to run above clicker 3. The TRA cannot shift out with these ramps unless in a low clicker. (it's all about track speed)

A big change also was noticable when my dealer warrantied both clutch bushing, the spring cover bushing and the lower bushing too.

Secondary is stock now.

EPI yellow sec, stock ramps as I like the "zingy" and they have the same upper profile as the 515s, 1mm oversize rollers, Purple/green primary and +6 screw, #3 at 4000ft. Di*ks don't post their sutups because its a secret.

160/320 primary, 14.5 gram pin weight, clicker 2, sometimes 3..(cannot run clicker 1 as the ramp hits the governor cup) EPI yellow secondary spring, stock 42 helix...(soon to change probally to shockwave)...that's it.....

Oh ya..Ramps..top secret:eek: but they don't belong in the clutch and have been modified to work. Couldn't find any of the 400 seriers ramps I liked/worked.

Finally got my clutch's right

Have a 2008 XP 154 with 1800 miles on it and the clutch setup sucked. The only time I could get over 8000 rpm was off the line for a hundred yards then it would lug down into the mid 7000's and a 600 could pass me. Took it to a local shop in McCall, ID., RK Motor Works and they set it up. I highly recommend Rob for the work. (208-634-4285)

Took two settings to get it, but it is now very correct for riding from 5000 to 8000 feet with lots of boondocking. Great, or better yet, fantastic, response, hit it at any speed and the tack goes immediately to 8200/8300 and hang on.

Damn nice to have it work right for a change. Hope they don't mind me posting this.

Just buy a proven kit, ROOSTER BUILT

Winter Brew's Rooster Built clutch kit is awesome. Had my first ride with mine today and it was a HUGE improvement. Cool belt, great backshift, great trackspeed 45+ in a climb in deep heavy snow and it pulls very hard off the bottom as well. Gets rid of the buzzy feel the stock clutching has and runs very consistent. Very impressed with this kit and I know many others are as well. Built and tested by someone who actually rides NW Mountains!
