what is up with the stering on the snopro m1000

a buddy bought one this year, we had it out at revy last week, i drove it a few times and had to give it back early each time, the sled felt like we went back 10 years in sledding... sterring feels real weird,(cause a arm lock) how can i guy sidehill something like that, no leverage factor for the rider at all

as for the power it felt good but sure is front heavy, always wants to submarine in deep snow even with the light weight can compared to the xp

is their something he can do to fix this because after driving mine he now is not to happy about his purchase:mad::mad:

thanks for the reply

Sell the thing and get one of those "SUPER LIGHT STERING" Skidoos!

I here they are killin every sled on the hill...

Those super light stering skidoos are leaving lots of belts lying around. How many of those did you go through on your machine while trying to figure out your buddy's M1?

What air pressure is he running in the front shocks, 10psi makes a world of differance on how it handles. I run mine stiffer for the hard pack and lighter in the powder, esp. if a lot of side hilling is in order.

Let the limiterstrap down and stiffen the front boggiesusp a little. Get wider skis and soften it in front. Do one thing at a time so you can feel what every adjustment does.

thanks guys, we will start with the limiter, suck it up i guess to take some pressure of the skis

now is their anything out there to raise or change the stering post, feels very low like you should be sitting, we both are 6.0 and are bent over bad to sidehill or turn in deep snow

as for his front shocks i am not sure, i know he was trying a few things with them

yes the xps are going threw some belts, but the rest of the sled feels good, we will give this a try and see how it turns out, thanks again

Rode my M1000 snopro for the first time this weekend and noticed the same crap. First off the stock ski's suck, there history. Going for the limiter strap tomorrow and then I will reduce the air in my front shocks a bit.

drop the skid in the tunnel

I have the same complaint, hate how cat manufactured the transfer right out of the skid, I am going to drill a hole 1" lower in the tunnel, that will drop my front arm down an inch, will take some weight off of the nose I'm sure.

Rode the 800 Dragon last weekend, that is no doubt the sled to beat!

most of the m series are like that ..last years m8 was the same ..works really well in super deep powder , but anything with a bit of crust or base will make you think that you are in a canoe that doesnt want to go anywhere but down the river..spent two days last year trying to set the suspension up on a buddies m8 ,limiter strap different settings on the springs different air pressure and it didnt seem to change alot..we could never get it to transfer enough off the skis ..probably why they work well in the real dry loose snow they will not trench.. also it seems that the steering stops wont let the skis turn far enough,,a litttle grind job should fix that. it seems that a different riding style is needed if you have been riding one of the other brands or liked the way the older mountain cat handled ..i ride with a couple die hard cat guys who wont buy a m series because of that reason..

Have him put 70 lbs in the floats and the problem is fixed (sort of) the stock skis are junk, I put on powder pros made a big diff.

Regarding the steering post, why don't you put a riser on it? Brake and throttle cables can handle 3-4" without extension. Mountainhunter is right. The M-chassis doesn't transfer a lot of weight, and that's exactly why it does so well in the deep stuff. If you want a lot of ski lift, you're going to trench.

taste great, less filling

can 12 pounds
pipe 6lbs
seat 8 pounds
intake 8 pounds
stickers, greanie soundproofing, .05lbs

start rippin parts off, its still 25 pounds heavier than my 900 but we re gaining

rode a m8 sno pro in cooke yesterday and noticed the exact same thing,,seemed like the skis jerked back and forth,,did about 4 nice big circles on 1 ski and scared the crap out of me..:face-icon-small-sho

Three inch bar riser, 65psi in floats, set of SLP Powder Pros, loosin the limiter straps and you will notice a huge difference. If that doesn't do it, I suggest hitting the weights and manning up or going back to a womans sled......:D
