What is this piece I found under the engine of my 09 M8?

I was installing the new Arctic Cat heavy duty skid plate on my 09 M8. The instructions have you tip the sled over on its side. When I did I heard something metallic sliding on the bottom of the engine compartment. I did a search with a shop light and found the item in the attached picture.

It's about 2 1/4" long and made of aluminum. It looks to be about .070" thick. It does have a wear mark so it looks like it once was bolted to something, but what?

Do any of you have any idea what this part may be?

Thank you

That piece screws into the pto side bulkhead brace. ITs purpose is to hold to heat shield down on the opposite side of the oil bottle (on top of the throttle bodies). look for the scew, its probably rattling around somewhere.

Thanks guys, that's great to know.

I hate to trouble ayone but, do you think that part can be found on the parts breakdown so I can see exactly how it fits and where it goes?

I'll try to find it too.

That's a quarter, you can spend it like money or put it in your pocket...

Ok man..........thanks........this quote made me laugh out loud.......had to explain to my 8 yr. old what was so funny..........ha-ha-ha........love it!

Yup, those are some funny answers. Gotta love it! :D

For some reason I see a B-2 Bomber when I look at the aluminum piece lying here on the oak roll top desk.

Thanks again.

Along with the screw there should be a piece of rubber the same shape as your mini boomerang to stop the vibration between that plate and the bulkhead.

Really? I just upgraded my exhaust to the slp set up and when I removed the heat shield to install the y pipe there was no rubber piece. Works fine and doesn't rattle at all. But sending thanks to you as I will look further into it.

What did you expect to find in a M8. AC gave us some spare parts

I take my belly pan off every summer to empty out the "extra" parts. My sled just keeps getting lighter every year.:D
