What is the best turbo for the money?

There is a lot of talk out there about turbos, but what is the strait talk for 180 kits and what is the best for the Money. I am looking to boost a Fresh 2011 Nytro 163. Super stoked to get off the doo and on the boost!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your time.:jaw:

IMO go with one that your favorite local dealer knows and supports (service, parts, tuning, etc.)

I really like my MPI 180 kit, I got it with the snowcheck deal last winter and it has worked great so far. My dealer did the install, both owners took me up on the mountain for the break-in ride, and done a GREAT job in the "customer service" area with building and prepping my sled for me. (TNT in Laramie WY)

This is what I'm thinking and there a fair amount cheaper then the MCX kits. How was the controller last yr. How much adj did you have to do.
I'm thinking push turbos just because there local to me but there are very close to being the same kit.

I have not touched the controller, the only adjustment after the first few rides was to put the boost gauge on it and turn it up a few turns from where it was when it shipped. The kit has been gas and go for me so far.

You are right Push has a very similar setup, if they are local to you and you think you can get better support that would be hard to pass up.

I've always been a little partial to MCX as they have been such an awesome reliable kit for years. But the MPI is a really nice clean kit and super good bang for the buck. Where are you located Rstoke???

Mpi v push

Thanks for all of the feed back. Mcx is a great kit just a little costly. Looks like the Mpi kit and the push kit are almost the same. Push kits are about 1k cheaper than mpi and have a low altitude kit. Pros and cons? I am renting a house in Revelstoke this winter and look forward to the boost.

Push is a great running kit, i have installed a lot of them and my customers are very happy. Can't beat it for the money. The new kit has a lot of nice updates as well

Absolutely love my MPI 180 kit. Gas and go totally trouble free and really straight forward install. Going to add a boost controller this year just to keep pace with elevation. Best money I've ever spent on a sled and this was my 4th boosted Yamaha.

turbo yamaha

go with the pust kit, it rips, stone reliable, and because of not having to buy through the dealer it costs way less.

MPI. I think they have a better fit. IMO coming from a dentist. I've spent around 17,000.00 on two superchargers and one turbo with Mac at MPI. I have two nytro, one has a turbo and the other a supercharger and one supercharged RZR 4. I love the product. I was thinking of a 270 MCX turbo last year before I bought my MPI turbo but they didn't want to work with me so I stayed with Mac.

What kit do you like the BEST S/C or TURBO?

Another happy mpi costumer. Installing another one this weekend on a freinds sled. Call Oregon trail in Baker City,OR or PM freeagent on here and the MPI will be within a few hundred dollars of the push kit. Just one warning, one you'll hear from most everyone, boost is addictive so if you can afford a higher hp kit get it now. I thought I'd be happy at 7 psi, one season and now I think I need is 12.

Acutah,
What kind of boost controll are you going to put on? Looking at putting on my mpi 180 kit

I am going to try the Hallman Pro RX. I currently have the Turbosmart on my Impulse and it works well but I like the larger dial on the Hallman. It might be a bit easier to adjust with gloves on. I would say nowadays that about any of them would serve well.

I'm also considering a boost it to control the fuel. The stock works okay but still has a ever so slightly hesitation when you wack it.

hallman is the best manual controller,if you go boost it kit get the add on for the box that ajust your boost through the box.

alpine makes a nice 180 kit to & they are close to you rstoke, though more money than the others it comes with a intercooler so you can easily run more boost later if you want.

MPI says my kit comes set at the factory at 3 psi of boost and I also ordered the Hallman pro. Do I have to make any adjustments to the wastegate to be able to set the controller at 5 psi? Not sure how to set this up.
