My choice would be to go with an 08 or 09 M1000. I've spent a decent amount of seat time on a stock 08 153 and it definitely hauls the mail:eek: If you go with the 09, it would just be that much lighter weight right off the bat:beer;

Sorry to hear you never got that 9 running right.... you've definitely put a lot of effort into it:(

Stock M1000 is great....runs like an 800 but you get a cool 1000 sticker on the hood LOL.

The newer 800's all run pretty good IMO, all will need some small clutch and ergo mods. That said, the chassis all handle very different so I would see what you are comfy on and buy it....that simple.

I've VERY happy with the performance of my 09 XP....haven't touched a single thing and it runs great. I haven't even touched the clutching, much ti my surprise.

It has been the best sled out of the box that I have owned.

09 or 10 xp 154 163 out of the box. power to weight 16 inch track for the deep n steep and that excels over any other brand forsure:D:beer; you dont what a heavy sled that will break you and your friends backs:p when you get stuck, because you know we all get stuck now and then:rolleyes:;). floation :face-icon-small-winfloation,

Dogmeat, there has been every suggestion under the sun thrown at you in this thread.

IMO Because you are 260lbs you will need a strong and powerful sled.
Go with a 08 or 09 RMK 700 163" and install a carls 860 you want the long track and the instant and mid range torque...... also the chassis and clutching is a proven performer.
The other one I would consider is the 09 M1000 162" with SLP pipe setup.

Looks like you experts have decided, biggest is best!

If you wan't to see your sport have much of a future, better hope the OEM's slingshot some entry level good out of the box machines.:(

Had it out at Daniel's Summit today. Baseless champagne light powder, but I don't think it's gonna be a poor performer in the deep wet stuff either ...

Guy I rode with all day was on a 2008 M1000 .... yeah the M1000 has more power, but it's also more finicky when trying to pick your way through the trees with it (and this is coming from somone who is used to riding a 900 RMK) ... I think I really dig this M8 =)

I'm still gonna keep my 900 RMK as a backup. It might get a track upgrade and a turbo some day, who knows ...

But, I'm gonna get this new M8 clutched right then leave it alone :) It should work perfectly fine for me in near-stock trim :)

At 260 lbs I would opt for the M1000. My 08 has been great so far. Weighted the clutch a bit and put a can on her and I'm very pleased with it. You will love the extra power and reliability! Rev

Are we talking one box, or several boxes? :D Glad to hear the new sled is working out for you so far. I'm considering a brand swap in the next couple seasons too... was initially leaning toward an XP but now I'm thinking M8 more and more.

M800 snopro 2010, I've tried 50 different brand new sleds over the last 10 yrs,,, This wins hands down,,, 2010 XP a close second, and the Dragon 3rd

2007 cats were the worst sleds of all of them. The 08 and 09 were better. I have an 09 hcr but they are under powered compared to the rest of them. A little different for the 2010 but that is not what you are asking.

10 XP
10 M8
10 D8

In that order... I've ridden all 3 and the XP and the M8 make a lot more power than the poo in stock form. I prefer the handling of the XP over the other two but I've been riding one since 08
