Ok, I've pretty well decided I'm buying another sled this year.

I'm still planning on keeping my 900 RMK until I determine for sure if it is ever going to work right, but in the meantime, I need something I can actually ride and enjoy while I'm still screwing with it.

Key point: I DO NOT want to buy a sled I'm going to have to turn right around and drop another $5,000 into suspension and motor upgrades just to get the damned thing to work right.

I want it to be a real performer right out of the box witha MINIMAL amount of initial upgrades necessary.

Keep in mind, the sled will need to be adaquate for a 260-lb rider that likes to actually ride and not dick around all day on trails.

What do you all think?

Wait until the snow flies Dogmeat. I'll let ya ride mine for a day and we'll see if we can find you a M8 to "borrow" for a bit also. I might be able to hook you up, just let me make a call or two. Don't pull the trigger until you have tried both though. And don't snag a D8 as you will end up being even more pissed off! At 260 pounds you will have to put heavier springs on anyways, I had to and I was only 230 last year and now I am under 200 (YIPPEE, FREE MODS).

For a 200+ rider, the 09 M1000. My buddy got's the 08 M1000 stock and it kicks ars. .02 :beer;

I got about 20 lbs on you and can say for sure to look at the m1000 or even better, the new M8. Out of the box performance and reliability.

You are getting too big of a spread between years on sleds an 09 M1000 is lighter and more refined than an 08 by a bunch, and the 09 Xp is a little better than the 08 was, just minor stuff in the Xp, the 09 D8 is a bit different than the 08, cooler plastics etc....Ride some sleds, find the brand you like and get the best year of that series.

Yeah, but the 2010 is better than the 2009, the 2011 is going to have carbon fiber hand warmer buttons, etc and on and on;)

I think best bang for the buck ..an 08 or 09 polaris 600 ho rmk 155 with a carls 660 or 685 kit...800 or better performance with better then stock reliability and very inexpensive....

Eh ... I need something bigger ;)

I'm thinking M1000 with a full SLP or SpeedWerx kit on it would be nice ....

I'll see what I can come up with.

they make an 860 kit for it...and it would run with the run what ya brung crowd....

WOW, nearly 50% of all responded goes to AC between the M8 and M10.

They are a good sled. There are a few 07-08 M8 turbos right around the $8500-10000 mark. Seems like a smokin deal if you ask me.

I'm riddin a TM 1000 this year.:):beer;

After looking at everything you have said my thought for you would be an 09 M1000 SP with a speedwerx tunnel dump can, and ride the piss out of it. I think I have owned and modded every brand sled with the exception of Yama-tanks (and I will eventually get a Nytro and see what I think, but it is going to go to weight watchers first, big time). An XP is also a good choice, I rode it stock the first year with the exception of clutching and a Toms Evolution set up, it was a great sled. No sled is totally perfect out of the box, some are closer than others, but I can not think of any sled I would not want to change some stuff on to make it more suitable for MY riding and crashing style. And don't mind PJ about Dragons, he just doesn't know how great a $20,000.00 Dragon can be.

They're great I bet as long as you can keep pistons in them ;)

Either way I think after this whole 900 debacle I'm pretty much done with Polaris.

Hopefully I'll have better luck with Cat.

Pistons are easy, its the cranks and lower cases that make me mad. I do like my M1000 and have had no motor issues with it at all, good sled, a bit heavy in the front at first, but the 09 lost a lot of weight with the electronic reverse and some other things.
