just looking for some input on bar bags. Who has used what, and what works the best.
Thanks

Using a BACKPack On your back....

Is the best place...

Then you don't have this huge bag flopping around on the bars...

My .o2

I have a Snobunji handlebar bag that has storage on both sides of the riser and is easy to put on/take off. But it does block your view of the dash gauges and does flop around a lot compared to a good tunnel bag. I was going to use mine for quick camera access, but it just gets beat by the riser, so I went back to the trusty backpack for safe storage.

I learned from Burrandt on the value of handlebar bags. I like having my camera in "quick draw" mode on the HB's and some other stuff to get to quickly.

There are HB bags that are huge and some that are fairly small from different companies... even some that have heaters in them to keep the batteries from crapping out on you due to the cold.

sled solutions builds the best quality and right sized handle bar bags out of any of them that i've seen. have used one for the last two seasons and love it! big enough to hold my camera, water bottle, helmet cam along w/ extra mounts, couple tools, sled registration. works out great! here's a link to the one that i use.

handle bar bag

I use the snowbunjie, works extremely well. Mine doesnt flop around at all, i used some zip ties to take up some of the slack. The one from sled solutions looks good as well. DO NOT BUY THE POLARIS BRAND HANDLEBAR BAG, IT IS JUNK.

I like Snobunjie's bag also, applied zip's to secure it better also....three seasons, zero issues. Spray it with water repellant each season.......
I can even report that it stayed on during two unexpected dismounts and the resulting roll/ghost ride/roll/hit the only *&^%$%#^& tree in the run out, and still looks good as new. (so did the stuff inside including the radio and gps units)
Also, for the battery life (and camera lens no fog) issue. I just activate a chemical hand warmer and throw it in the case with the gear. No problemo.
I keep the small point and shoot in the HBB, the good stuff goes in the tunnel mounted Pelican case. (love that thing!)

Bag

Its perfect for like said, cameras, and a GPS or/and a spot. Specially if it has the heater for cold days. I like them because i got sick of going into my back pack all the time and it was a abs pack with the stupid aluminum buckles that ice up and not open.

I use the SOS handle bar bag.Holds 2 water bottles plus my camera and lite gloves and a few small items. This is my 3rd one and for $50 its hard to beat.Your right about the polaris bar bag ,what a joke!!

polaris has a cheap dash bag that holds a small digi camera, couple tools, gloves, whatever small stuff you can shove in there and it doesnt flop around at all. It looks good and stays dry. I think it was $25. I personally don't like bar bags.

I know I ride polaris but the best handlebar bag for the protapers is an Arctic cat bag. The make a nice one for around $40. The decals come off so it won't say cat on it, nad it has nice room and fits really well.

i'm using the polaris bag, works great but is NOT WATER PROOF!!!! so anything you want to stay dry i would suggest putting in a zip lock bag. sure is nice to have the camera and gps right in front of you when you stop! never noticed the bag getting in the way of the gauge but i'm a stand up rider, guess i would have to sit on the seat to find out;)

i use the polaris bag. works great. doesnt block the view of the gauges. cheap too. my friend carries everything in his back pack. what a hassle. half the time it's me getting stuff out for him. the tunnel bag, under seat bag and riser bag work great. dont let the back pack only guys give you any poo. to each his own.

I bought a True North bag. Mounted it in front of the bars. I had to double wrap the bottom strap on each side, then diagonally attach them to the top buckles. This keeps the bottom tight to the bars and keeps it centered. A guy I ride with has the Sno-bungi bag with a pouch on both sides of the bar and it kept turning the key off in bad spots. I opted for the single sided bag to avoid this.

I got the Polaris one....doesn't move around at all, didn't cost much, still see the gauges no problem. Not sure on the waterproof issue but I just assume nothing on a sled is.

Sled Solutions bag works great

Yep...same one i use. Works great! Plenty of room for camera, GPS, cell phone, batteries, flashlight....and little hand warmers to keep all those electronics warm.
