Looking into getting a helmet cam and am leaning towards to go pro. Just wondering what everybody else was using and if they were happy with it.

I've run all the major brands. I've sold Drift HD at my a/v store for years and it has the best video quality IMO. Use footage to demo HD panels in the store even. The hands free rf remote on your handlebars for start/stop is sweet and you can buy a bigger battery, edit video on the built in screen, play video out of camera or remove the sd card, and it's waterproof.

Sell lots and thy work great.

+1 on the Drift HD

I have both the Drift and the Go Pro, get the Drift. I only use the Go Pro for Scuba diving because it is waterproof to 60 meters. The colour is a little better with the Drift and the hands free remote that is included with the Drift is a no brainer when it comes to convenience. Just strap the remote to your handle bars and off you go. The drift has a much lower profile on your helmet also. I've bash the Drift through thick trees and no problems.

+4 on the Drift HD model for all the reasons JustBoostIt stated. Gotta love the RF remote, it's what initially sold me on the Drift series. I'm pretty sure the extended life battery will only work on the 170 models though. You can get an external power pack that's good for 20 hours and also run it off a 12 volt USB adapter if you have an accessory port on your sled. I prefer carrying extra batteries though so you are not messing with power cords and connecting any cords to the camera reduces its water resistance. BTW the goggle holder on the Pro Climb also works great for storing and keeping extra batteries warm so they don't lose their charge.

Was having a problem getting it to start up when cold, but it turned out to be a bad MicroSD card. Got it replaced and haven't had a problem since. Drift customer support was also top notch diagnosing the power problem. They were ready to send me a brand new one until we narrowed it down to the SD card.

My only minor complaint is it doesn't come with a tether or tether accessory to prevent loss from branches and the various obstacles we inevitably come in contact with while riding. I came up with the following set up made from a coat pocket key chain tether and some various stuff I found at the local hardware store. Works great.

I have seen the film from

Go Pro

I have used all three, I would get a GO PRO 2

Check out their web site and you will understand.

Does the Drift have a wide angle lens? The wide angle makes the video much better IMO since you can see more of the rider, sled, and the terrain. The videos where you can only see the terrain in front of the rider really aren't that great since you don't get a sense of what's going on with the machine...might as well be a video shot from a spaceship for all you can tell.

I got the GoPro Hero HD2 for Christmas. Haven't had the chance to use it yet, but it looks promising!

I know all you guys are compairing helmet cams but i got the liquid image goggles this year and love them. I didnt like that the helmet cams always get knocked off by tree brances. The only down fall is that you have to find a helmet that the goggles will fit snug in cause with the battery and buttons on the sides it makes them a little wider. Just my 2 cents
