Chuckles...I know we've talked about cameras before. I still like the 40d for what I'd use it for (The 50d is still out of my price range)...BUT that the Canon T1i has HD vid but a plastic body.

The finance committee has authorized me to pick out a camera.

In my $$ range (and feature/usage range) where would you go? Lower level Canon T1i plastic body with HD vid...or a level up Canon 40d/50d metal frame NO HD vid.???????

I'm guessing the metal body would be better for carrying for damp sledding and in a backpack???????

I haven't read any of the reviews on the newer entry level slr's Scott so I can't say how they are. I'm still using my 40d and have no problems with it. I have been wondering how the video is working on all of the slr's also.

I don't know what this makes me want more...to go riding or get a HD camcorder...;) Nice job! :D

(Advice from the Cinematographer who shot this)

On the Canon 5D Mark II you have to shoot full manual including focus so you really need some experience to keep it sharp. It also helps to shoot it at F11 or F22 if possible to get greater depth of field. Also try to shoot with the fastest shutter possible once you have set your aperture and if its still to dark use a faster ISO.

Good Luck!

Nuckles do the 40d or 50d shoot video at all?

I played with a 50d today at BestBuy. Love it...but in the few minds I had my hands on it...couldn't see a vid function.
