What happened to all the hype of the Push Turbos?

sleds

i talked with a guy that has a pro with a push kit and cant get it to run, push should stay with cat

HM turbos, boondocker, silber are the ones that belong on a pro.

A similar ignorant statement was made 6 years ago by a Yamaha guy who said that turbos only ran well on 4 strokes. Luckily nobody listened to him either and now we have a wealth of world wide two stroke turbo knowledge. None of this science comes without growing pains, but I'm damn glad it's still growing!

My post was not made to make people mad and have them bash me.

that is just what i heard
I do know that hm, boondocker, silber all work on the pros
I am sure push will get it figured out

sorry mister

Ok, so just got back from Togwotee with my 13 with the Push kit. Unfortunately I got sick and only got 2 short days of testing.

A little background on the situation. I had to run a preliminary map from Ken since Precision EFI was not able to finish thiers due to another driveshaft failure. Also the clutching was a "best guess" for my altitude. The boost controller was off on my map, so I ran off the wastegate spring. Overall not the best conditions for success.

First day I ran a a lower psi spring and about 6lbs of boost I was SHOCKED at how crisp and good it ran right out of the box. The throttle response on the bottom was just like a stock, but the power just kept building very linearly. It felt more like a big bore than a turbo. No noticable lag and great on and off the throttle. Also no big surge of power like other brand turbos. I have been extremely skeptical of the claimed benifits of the Tial, billet wheels, throttle body before turbo, etc and had dismissed it as sales BS. I am a believer now. The difference in throttle response from the other popular Pro turbos I have run was significant. AFRs were great across the board.

The second day I went to a higher psi spring and was more like 10 lbs of boost. Unfortunately I was hitting the rev limiter at WOT and did not have weights to keep it down enough (78s). I needed to add a bit of fuel to keep the AFRs down, but ran out of time testing before I got sick.

As far as power, I think it is on par with everyone else boost for boost. I don't buy the "my 10lbs makes more power than thier 10 lbs" line. The linear throttle response and lack of lag is much much better than other kits I have run.

I cannot say enough good things about the Vipec. Its somewhat complicated, but UNBELIEVABLE how good it works and how good the control is. Dobec and BD boxes are a joke in comparison in my opinion. The future is Vipec and other stand alones. Everything works like it should. PERC, gauges, speedo, odometer, temp, etc. Just like stock. Starts on the second pull.

Overall the Push/Vipec is a winner. They just need to polish the map and finish a couple things and It should be one of the best kits out there. To bad this wasn't all done in Nov!!! The amount of tweaking and figuring out myself I had to do was not for everyone and a little irritating given the price of admission, but the results are great.

Just my opinion, yours may vary.
