What does "ES" mean??

I was looking at the new lineup and noticed some models with ES on the end like Assault 800 ES. These sleds are around $400 more than non ES models. What does the ES have over other models??

I put this question to the shop manager at the dealer and we both came to an added weight between 18-22 pounds for easy start. But that was just an estimate and it is greatly reduced if you factor in the new lightweight battery which are weighing in at only 2.5 pounds + a couple of ounces. But I question their cold weather performance. And these batteries are $$$$. Anyone with experience with the new lithium batteries chime in and give your .02 cent.

I run one of these $$$$ lithium batteries in my Nytro and have had zero problems. At least with the pro you have a backup option to pullstart. I was told that pretty much the only extra weight was from the battery.

Extra special
Extra smooth
Eat snow
Elfin Shoes

Oh yeah electric start, best buy I made after a 100 mile run the M8's pull hard and my index finger and thumb are sore but I manage.

I will admit I enjoy ES on my 4 stroke dirt bike, but I am loathe to rely on a battery at all with snowmobiles in the cold weather. They start so easily with EFI anyway, I don't see the big deal using the pull cord and saving 20 lbs.

Dude I carry 20 pounds in my pinky finger, a battery is nothing.

I weighed everything (Battery, Starter, Harness, Brackets etc everything except the ring gear) when I did a conversion on a dragon. It weighed 12 lbs.

I have ES on my Pro......added 12 lbs, installed HPS can saved 7 lbs (I think) net gain of 5 lbs. I dropped almost 70 lbs from my previous sled when I went to the Pro, I don't think I have noticed the 5 lbs yet after 1200 miles.

I have it, battery took a poop the first day. (They warr. It, been using pull cord though) Super easy!! glad they were smart enough to put a recoil on. Gotta love Polaris! Oh Yah, broke a brake lever too, they covered it...

I would never buy a sled that didn't have electric start and reverse. What's cool with Polaris is the get both options in these Pro RMK's with very little weight gain.

Can you point me in the direction of the battery you are using. I put one on for a buddy this winter... on a xp. The lithium was 40 more cc amps than the stock battery, and it still wouldnt turn it over. I called the company and when I said it was on a snowmobile, the guy just groaned. He said it was rated for -5, but he didnt trust that. It would only turn it over in the shop that was about 50*, take it outside @ 20* and you were out of luck.

One way to help battery life when cold starting. Pull it over easy a time or two with the rope. Breaks everything free and creates a bit of friction inside the cylinders. Makes the sled turn over much easier and it is easier on the battery. If we are out at -20 or colder (-38 one year) we do that and away she goes.
