what do you all think of the 2009 m-series?

I think it is the biggest piece of chit on the planet. But then again you did ask this question on a SkiDoo forum

having no vested interest in them, i think the continued refinement is nice... cats reliability is among the best out there right now... no new chassis/motor bugs to fix, solid lineup imho and the nearly 30lb weight loss surely isn't gonna hurt either... electronic reverse is a welcome addition to the mechanical setup they had before... all-in-all, nice job, nothing ground breaking, but so what, as little riding time as I have anything that causes me to be a guinea pig is simply not on my list... we've yet to see polaris, but frankly, i think it is a better lineup for my needs/wants out of a sled than the doo lineup... too much new/first year stuff like the etec/4tec motors and etc...

bang for the buck the 500ss Summit 146 and the m8 snopro are the best I've seen so far this year... nothin in the yammie lineup interests me in the slightest... we'll see what polaris does...

Will have to ride it of course....

Looks like some good weight loss and improvments on paper, but my fear is that they'll still ride like the same ol M-sled. Which is kinda like a late 90's wedge with clapped out shocks and springs if you're comparing to the new doos/poos...

I was trying to think of a way to describe the M-suspension/ride/handling and you NAILED it!!
Having had a M7 with a 900 settup that ran good and had no complaints about the sled, I will say they just don't compare to the Doo's in handling, power, ergo's or build quality. I do like how they make improvements every year, they are definatly listening and observing what works in the hills!!!

I personally think they handle a bit better than the rev chassis, especially in the trees. Try the new M's with the float skid...great sleds!

They may be ok and the guys that have them seem to like them. To me they just feel odd after riding the Rev and XP. Another thing I noticed with the M's is that when they are stuck, you almost have to have the sled completely pulled out before it will get unstuck. Whereas the Rev or XP will get up on top of the snow and climb out after a couple of tugs on the ski. It is almost like the belly pan hangs lower than the track on the M's.

That ok if you think that, but remember that nest time your getting towed out by an Arctic Cat, or your changing your belt every other ride cause we all know how ski-doo's like smoking belts!!

And other another note i switched from ski-doo, cause i felt that the doo's just fight you everywere you ride, sure that got good power but that really are hard to ride!!!!

Look the same to me. I like the skid change, that's cool. I have ridden them before and honestly, I hated the way that the sled fit me. I have an 05 REV and an XP and both of them (to me) are way more comfortable to ride than the M series. Just my 2 cents

My perspective...

There is insufficient change on the 09 M-series for me to pony up and purchase one, but they, like every other manufacturer, continues to evolve and refine thier product. Quite frankly, the M-sleds we have in the stable currently are lighter and more powerful then the 09's ( They have been modded). The suspension on the 08's is good, the 07 needed a holz kit to make it bearable in my opinion. Neither is as good as the XP on the trail in my opinion. In the powder the M-series is a great sled, which is especially handy because that is the only place I ride - not into trail riding or keyboard racing. Every sled is junk if not set up properly, or if you have a dealer who cannot / will not provide good service. If doo can get there reliability / setup out of the box as good as it was in 06 - I may pony up and ride a Summit again. But from what I saw of the 07's, and my group which has 3 XP154's, I'll stay on a M-series for now.
