What do we know about the new Ascent track??

OK, what do we really know about the new Ascent™ track that is coming out on the 2012 Nytros??New! 15 x 162 x 2.25-inch Single-ply Ascent™ track
The new Ascent mountain track was designed to get on plane quicker in powder and be durable enough to handle the high horsepower of a boosted sled. This was achieved by strengthening the bottom 2/3 of the lug for acceleration, while leaving the top 1/3 elastic to be able to curve and provide lift. The 15x162x2.25-inch track features a 3-inch pitch to allow more snow to pack in between the lugs for a firmer grip on the snow.

And...

New! single-piece extrovert drive sprockets
Churning the track is a pair of new single-piece extrovert drive sprockets. The engineering teams purpose-built these sprockets to work with the Ascent™ track, reduce weight from the previous sprockets, and decrease vibration.

======================
Found this in another SnoWest Post

I have been testing the new 162 Ascent Track for about 200 miles .
The 2012 Nytro MTX owners are going to be happy.
This is by far the best OEM Yamaha Mountain Track available .
It has a stiff base paddle to help from folding over and with a soft tip to get up on top of the snow.
It has very little vibration even with the 2010 drivers

Looks like we know about as much about the new Ascent track as we do about the new Peak 2.5, diddley squat.

Makes me wonder why Camopast isn't advertising the hell out of the Peak 2.5? It's not even on their website, at least the last time I looked, which was last week I think.

I hope it turns out to be for the better, i threw my 10' to the way side and was talked into a 12' when i went in last tuesday to finalize my paper work on the 10'. Just couldnt pass up the deal they offered on the 12'. So I hope that the new track and drivetrain pans out. Coming to me out of the box with that push hairdryer thingy too.....So i guess i should be happy about the 12' updates :face-icon-small-hap

There was someone who posted about it this summer. Said they had been running it on a boosted sled and were very happy with the results. I just read the review of the boosted Nytro from American Snowmobiler and they seemed to like it also.

I am sure that you have read the article from Snowest about the development of this track and how they felt it climbed better than a Powerclaw. The only thing that makes me discount that a little bit is that they say the old Maverick was good in the powder. I swear they must have never ridden that thing in the powder because my impressions were slightly different to say the least.

I hope it turns out well. You can also get the Peak aftermarket which is the same track but in a 2.5 inch lug. If I hadn't already bought a track for mine I think I would try it.

Sure seems that way.
Time to make a phone call and see what I can learn about this new track.

I might be willing to put one under my sled and give it a try this year.
If it is half the track that Yamaha and Camoplast are making it out to be, we could have a real winner on our hands.

Couple that with the new Skid from KMOD and this could be a sweet setup !!

Fired off an e-mail to Yamaha last night.
Waiting back on a reply now.

Will let you know what I find out.

I asked about the ascent track at my local dealer about a month or so ago. Cost was way too much... around $1300. The Peak 2.5 isn't offered in the 3.0 pitch. Maybe by mid winter/early spring they will have the 3.0.

Did not get a reply back today.
So now we wait till Monday.

In the new 2011-2012 catalog they are not showing a 3" paddle offering.

My GUESS is that Yamaha is holding the exclusive on the 3.0 pitch for this season to their "Ascent" version of the Peak track.

Looks like Yamaha got my letter.
Today a large box appeared at the shipping dock at SnoWest today.

Haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but I strongly suspect there is a new evaluation track in it.

That is awesome. I guess that will make up you mind for you won't it. I am thinking that you will be more than happy with that track.

It sure came as a TOTAL SURPRISE to me!
I thought Yamaha was just NOT interested in a full forum review.
Heck, I offered to PAY for the track, didn't ask for a loaner or a demo.

I guess I should go open the box and look inside shouldn't I??:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap
