what boots work

trying to figure out a boot that will keep us warm and not shred to pieces from kick starting.
killed 2 pairs of klim adrenaline gtx sled boots form kick starting and the peg ripping open the wall of the boot on the inside of the foot.

what do you guys use? some guys I know use there mx boots but say they will eventually get wet cold feet. any one running motor fist ?

I get Danner Gore-tex work/hiking boots the tall ones from work for free (bonus) so I've been sledding with those for years. Because they are Gore-tex your feet stay dry which IMO is the key to warmth. I've worn them biking this year as well and so far so good, they are great for shifting, the arches of your feet don't get sore and they have a super tough Vibram sole.

I know it sounds stupid but they work for me.

I have a couple of pairs so I switched back to my old ones cause I thought the biking might kick the $hit out of my boots and after 4 or 5 seasons of sledding my old ones are still waterproof. They aren't cheap but now that I've used them I would pay for them if I didn't get them for free.

Tried Moto fist and the boots are junk -- worst fitting boot I ever tried the dealer here had a hard time blowing them out at 50% off.

I just got a pair of motorfist stompers and I really like them so far, I figured since the sole is replaceable if they get too tore up I can just bring them to my local boot shop, first 4 day trip they worked great, the right foot sole has a little nik of rubber missing off the inside edge but that's it. Feet stayed dry the entire weekend. Now I have only used them for one trip so we will see how they last

Had my Motorfist boots for a couple years now. Fit like slippers and even wear them in the summer. Rugged and very comfortable boot with good support IMO.

Motorfist Stompers.. first season, very satisfied so far, good fit. Were them all the time not just when riding.

These Irish setters are what I bought this year, I only have two rides on them but they are holding up great and keep my feet warm and dry. They are still a china made boot like the klim's but they are all leather and stitch down construction so they should last a lot longer. The other advantage over the other snowmobile specific boots is that I only paid $157 for them shipped to my door.

As for those people tearing up the side of your boot kick starting then I would suggest you remove the hex headed bolt on the side of the tunnel and replace it with an allen, I had the same issue and haven't since I swapped out that bolt.

That trailer and all those toys gleam pretty bright to. :face-icon-small-blu

Some of these folks will be polishing of their bikes before they get a chance to summarize, disintegrated drive bearings, water in the oil, and more power combined with the Energizer Bunny rider means severe duty.

I have a Snow Hawk similar to your summer beach duds, 10yrs old and I keep forgetting to gas it, high an dry for all to admire.

A few of us One ski's found these to last, you have to look far and wide, no longer made, such a shame.

warm toes in cold wave

Ditto on the coldwaves, warmest boot I ever owned, stiffest boot I ever owned, might tear up your running boards or foot pegs, use them for sledding but hard to get my Klims pants over the outside. rode the snobike with them all last year, but this year after couple of rides went back to Klims with set of toe warmers in the insole. Wow is that old set of coldwaves stiff, never going to have a broken ankle or barked shin though.

Klim Adrenalin GTX. Hands down best boot out there. Yes they cost around $185 (which I think is a good deal) but my foot is dry, warm, and comfortable after every ride. I even wear them in the bar after a long ride. They help for stability on the way out.

Not sure why the Klim boots aren't working for you. My gtx boots have been great and see no sign of being a disappointment in the near future. I recommend them to all.

Muck Boots

I have a kick only 2003 ktm 525 sx and I wear Muckboot neoprene mud boots. Adam (above poster) can testify that I have kicked and kicked and kicked on my bike while he pushes some fancy button and my feet are warm and dry here in Alaska. And in the summer you can use them to keep your feet dry while prancing through dewy meadows or kicking in skulls (Seinfeld episode). Less expensive than most other boots and comfy too.

Dude, I've kicked.....a few times. I love my boots but yes your duck mucks have held up very well during the diplomatic discussions you have had with your bike about the idea of starting or not.

Although I hate spending Big $ on made in china crap I did brake down and buy Klim boots -- they are the best I have tried so far. My Muck boots have a bunch of rips in them from the food pegs. They are a good boot but have way less protection for your lower leg. So far the Klim's get it done for me.

Alpinestar tech 8

Agreed kicking a snow bike is hard on boots!
I Have had to use an MX boot to start my XR650R and 525 XC.
I've used Alpinestar tech 8 (Off road MX Boots) for the past 3 years sprayed with Camp-Dry silicone.
The tech 8 has an removable inner bootie that helps keep your feet warm and dryer. The soles could be bigger to help walking across the snow.
My hands get cold well before my feet.
For the Kickers out there My Suggestion is one size larger MX boot with a thick par of socks.
