what bike to buy, under $5500?

I want to buy a bike for under $5500 and put a MH kit under it, what bike would work the best on the snow in my price range? Any help would be appreciated.

What is it about the kx450 that makes it shine? Im guessing its the power and fuel injection. I have a Berg570 and am wondering how it compares. I went that route mainly because i heard great things and it would be my last chance to get the 70* motor since they are being discontinued.

Do you not like the husaberg???? Are you swapping it out? or do they not make a kit for your Husaberg???? Just wondering. Thanks.

I think the Husaberg is a great bike from what I have heard but I believe the fast reving motocross bikes are great on snow! They tend to cost less to purchase to !

No, I love the berg! I bought it barely used with a 121mh kit already installed. I just dont have any waY to compare anything. Only got to ride once since i got the bike way late in season. My last bike was a ktm 525 with 2moto, so no compare there either. My berg is a bone stock 09 so i will install a slip on and remap and it should hold 4th alot better . Thats where the track speed is anyway. Fuel injection gets you spoiled too. It would be hard to go back.

Kx450 defiantly revs quicker than most of the others out there. My rmz revs slower but seems to have just as much power. Lugs a little better. Still debating getten rid of my kx500 if anyone is interested

What about the FI yamahas or the new KTM fuelies the yamahas seem to be pretty cheap for a 10 fuelie!

I think the FI KX's are pretty cheap too. If you are willing to travel outside of the Pac NW you can find 09-10's all day long between $3800 - $4500. I just picked up my 11 KX450 with under 10 hours locally for $6K. Hard to beat that price in NW Montana.

5 grand scooters

the issue really boils down to features you want ?

electric start critical to you ?

fuel injection ? not as well ironed out on bike as sleds

MX bikes limited on transmission ratio's

power delivery ?

carbed bikes simpler to maintain if you have problems

buying an old MX bike?.......tons of Yam honda for 3k or less with low hours, not much advantage to buy later better suspended mx bike for conversion, some of the early 2000's have better power for snowbikes, just find one with uabused engine.

want power ? KTM is the only common big motor supplier with dealers, ask around about transmission gearing.
