Plan on getting a avy backpack what are the best ones out there right now? Ive been looking at the snowpulse, but saw something about a recall on them?

Thanks in advance
Zach

ABS
BCA
Snowpulse

In no particular order.......the recall on Snowpulse is old news and has been taken care of.

Pick one and go,,,,,,,either bag will do the job and is better than no bag,

For me, I went with the BCA Float 22 'throttle'

I've HEARD that ABS is not sledding friendly.

I've HEARD the ONLY avy pack that is sledding friendly is BCA.

Anyone have more info on that?

BCA is a great company based in Boulder, CO which is just 10 miles from me. they are the only AV pack I will use or sell!!

The float 22 is awsome.

My avy gear is all 15 years old. I am upgrading this year finally.

Hope to get a BCA tracker3, Float throttle 22, carbon pole and the dozer shovel.

This is the ABS Pack I run. Very snowmobile friendly.

I had the BCA FLoat 30, and also a second one for the g/f. She complained it was too heavy for her so I sold both and we switch to ABS (only wanted to buy 1 spare canister.) I bought her an ABS powder 5L. She absolutely loves it.

ABS makes lots of monetary donations to organizations that support Wilderness initiatives. If a wilderness initiative is passed it closes down that area to ALL motorized and wheeled traffic (snowmobiles, dirt bikes, jeeps, even bicycles!!). Only foot or hooves is allowed!

Snowpulse Highmark 22. A snowmobile specific pack, and the wrap around bag may provide some impact protection.

I went with snowpulse protech vest...no ride reports on it yet obviously as I just bought it but it sure seems hi quality I put everything id ride with in there and it distributes the weight so much better than a regular bag. Probe and shovel handle compartment is kinda a pain since there's only one spot for both on the outside but my carbon 260 and hmk shovel handle snugly fit together on the one side so...
Test fired twice now...works great!

I have the Snowpulse Protec Vest too. I REALLY like it. I have the optional armor installed and like the protection it provides. I do run very hot while riding and a vest surely traps more heat but that is only downside I see. I also have the small BCA pack from last years line up, I like that because it's so light but when I add some kind of armor it equals out to the Protec vest anyway for weight and heat build up.

Bca you can refill at any paintball shop or dive shop you domt have to send the bottles back.

That was the main reason i chose bca as they can be refilled locally for 12$ i rock the bca float 30

I have the armor to and will most likely always ride with but i imagine if you were really burning up you could pull the chest armor out and throw it in the bag and it would make a big difference.
Did you ever try to see if it cooled you down some by removing these?

The float 22 is awsome and I can get them for folks here at a substantial discount if interested.

Sent you a PM

BCA Float 30 from a few years ago. No complaints, always works when I pull the handle. Weighs 9 pounds empty and has a lot of room if you need it. It can get heavy if you use all the space, but nice to have it if you need it. I just carry the essentials in the pack to keep the weight below 20 pounds. Well laid out storage pockets and the shovel is stored inside in it's own pocket. Mine is from a few years ago and they ran a little long then, so if you have a short torso it may not fit you the best.

BCA has great products and is proven snowmobiler friendly too. Takes just a few minutes research to determine if a company is sledder friendly or not. Take the time to find out yourself.

Actually all AVY bag companies that are worth looking at BCA, ABS and Snowpulse make donations to backcountry skiing as that is where they have come from. BCA is a huge backcountry ski company. They all support both the sled industry and the ski and snowboard industry which is awesome. Choose the pack that works for you the best. Do your homework on it all especially the safety devise as that is what you are paying for!

Im so old school that the avibag back pack thing was weird for me. I tried the AviVest and just felt comfortable immediately. The pockets up front sold me. I keep electronics, goodies, etc in them for easy access. The backpack portion has lots of room for the rest. Everyone who i have let wear it during a ride acclimates to it quickly and sometimes its hard to get them to slow down and give it back....LOL. I ride warm so i found i have to take a layer off, but it fits in the vest.

The vest concept is so comfortable that i have bought other types of tactical vests for my quad riding and hunting to keep all of my crapola in.

For me, vests are so easy! I wear it on every ride because of that! Did I mention, I really like my AviVest....LOL
