What areas are connected by trails here in the steamboat, rabbit ears, grand lake areas. Want to maybe got to at least a couple of these areas, but would rather not have to do too much trailering.

Also, where are the places in these areas to stay that you can ride from your room?

Thanks,

kirk

Any info on where the best snow is would be great also.

Trails from your room? Grand Lake. Snow sucks but they have tons of groomed trails. RE doesn't.

Anywhere else, you trailer. Sorry.

Deepest snow is in SOCO.

I thought there were a couple places by the Ears that were ride in and ride out?

steamboat lake outfitters?

Not sure why you would get misinformation about this area from PJ? He has been hyping up RE for the last few years on here...I guess maybe he can't find a parking spot and now is trying spread misinformation to thin the heard?

Try sending a pm to Bushmaster....a local rider that will tell you the truth about what you need to know :beer;

The Cameron Pass/Gould area connects in to Grand Lake.

We recently stayed in a Yurt just outside Gould that was pretty much right on the trail.

They have several yurts, but only 3 that are drive-up (about $100/nt).

I think a great trip would be one night in Gould, ride to Grand Lake and spend the night (3hr trail ride or so), then back to Gould.

No misinformation here. Steamboat Lake Outfitters is a very long ways from RE/Buff. Look at a map. SLO is 30-40 from Steamboat and Steamboat is 20 min from RE. It's a drive. just ask those who attended the forum ride last season. They do offer ride in and ride out but according to a few peeps up in that area the snow is still marginal. There is absolutely ZERO ride in-ride out cabins on RE/Buff.

Up until this last weekend the snow was marginal on RE also. Before you start calling me a liar, learn the area. I'm not trying to keep anybody from anywhere.

there are places in Fraser & WP where you could ride from the driveway as well, no hotels, but lots of cabins up there are doable.

grand lake sucks unless you like trails (do people really LIKE trails?

The snowies is also nearby & you can get a cabin that you can ride from there as well.

never called you a liar but.................

PJ is a liar...say your not and you lied again :beer;

And you are a douche bag with too much time on your hands that likes to start trouble for no reason.:beer;:beer;;):p FYI, I found plenty of parking up there this weekend, no problem.:beer;:beer;

He asked about three areas (steamboat..rabbbit ears..grand lake)...none of them are really close to each other? You point him to grand lake? How many times a year do you ride there?

I didn't point him to Grand Lake. I stated that it has trails but the snow sucks. Honest answer. I've ridden there more than you have. I wouldn't recommend it, kinda lame as the snow is very hit and miss. There are no connecting trails. No misleading there. You can ride from some parking lot (very tiny) on the Steamboat side up and over Buff Pass to RE but the trails aren't maintained and groomed much and basically pretty dang miserable to ride on. I also ride that area more than you do so I do know what I am talking about. I don't give advice on lodging and trails in the SOCO area, do I?

As far as snow depth, anybody can look up Snotel readings and Ski reports to find out where the deepest snow is. And it is deeper down south. Again, no misleading. I answered the question and you come in poking a stick.

To clarify, I didn't point him to GL. GL offers ride in/ride out from your room. They groom trails. They have poorer snow conditions than RE/Buff, hence the extreme avy danger. (Gravel Mt, very dangerous. Slides multiple times every year and has claimed several lives in recent years).

He was canned for arguing with the big man. For trying to keep things normal without all the bling bling BS. But that doesn't matter to anybody.

Ok, thanks for the info, but what is SOCO

looks like the best would be to trailer in and out then.

GUYS GUYS... Can't we just all get along?? I think we all should feel lucky we have this kind of country to even ride in. Seems we are alway B%tch about not enough snow. Lets consider ourselfs lucky to have what we have.
Look at the guys in the midwest. They are in heaven when they get 8-12 in. Here we are complaining. oh we only have 2,3,4,5 feet. poor us!!
