Wet Failure

SO I got a 2005 rev that has a blown engine due to wet failure. Anyone heard of this? I guess it runs, but really bad, apparently the cylinders are torn up? Could this be fixed with a new top end or will I need a whole new motor(top end/crank)? Thanks.

My guess would be coolant or if jetting was changed it could have been way to rich and gas can actually wash the oil out of cylinder and sieze from lack of lube. Need more info ie pictures. If it was from coolant your bearings will be shot so you would need a complete engine. Coolant is very hard on bearings.
As far as your question on crate motor. Their is long blocks short blocks and complete motors. None of the above from skidoo will come with clutches. Short block is crankcase and crank pistons and cylinders (so you will reuse head if good reeds oil pump waterpump exhaust manifold rave valves.) Long block includes same as a short block pluss a head and birthing else I don't think. Complete motor is everything same as long block plus rave valves oil and coolant pumps reed valves and even carbs I think. You wool need to start tearing your engine down before your going to know if you just need a top end. Just make sure you drain your coolant before removing the head so you know if you had coolant in the motor from Rhine failure and not from you taking it apart.

Thanks, I just got it home and it starts, goes in forward/reverse and seems to move fine. Clutch def sounds funny though. I'll start tearing it down and see how it looks in a couple days.
